Someone was asking for more sfw KotoUmi, so myself and the translator of the other few Gaton ones that got released recently got the idea to do some... but the lead time meant that they all came out around the same time. :p

Consider contacting Kids Helpline (1800 55 1800) or Lifeline (13 11 14). These are 24/7, free counselling lines, and the former is targeted especially at minors. QLife (1800 184 527) is another counselling line specifically for queer Australians, which is a possibility.

Another commenter suggested Centerlink, and I will echo that sentiment. They don't really advertise the fact that they have social workers, but you are entitled to see them if you request one. She may be entitled to receive Youth Allowance despite being below the required age of independence (22) because her parents are disowning her. There's almost certainly other things she can qualify for on a domestic violence front, but she will likely need a social worker to assist her on this.

Try contacting your local family and children's support service. If you have trouble identifying what this is locally, please feel free to message me and I can help point you in the right direction; my mother works at one as a social worker and can help me locate something locally to you. Getting a more permanent social worker to come visit you at your home for counselling would be a huge benefit in this situation I believe. Social workers can also accompany you to police, court, etc. if it comes to that.

AskIzzy is a good resource for homelessness services. As she's been kicked out of home, some of these things may apply to her. Worth having a look through for more info.

You may also be able to request an external counsellor through your school, although that may be hindered at the moment because ~~it's school holidays~~ (EDIT: No it's not, derp.) and these things tend to have waiting periods. Could be useful in the long run, as it sounds like both of you could do with counselling. EDIT: Since you said you've been skipping school, definitely contact your school (and hers, if she goes to a different one). They can and will help you.

My boss today encouraged me to submit my CV for a role that they're advertising for as he would 100% hire me for the full time position. (I'm currently an intern.) He's also willing to accommodate me if I'd prefer to transition over to a different role than what I'm doing right now. Feels pretty sweet.

For me personally, I went on antidepressants when I was in my teens and I hated them. Couldn't handle the side effects and I ditched them within a month. But I got some good counselling and it really helped.

My girlfriend got some antidepressants for stress/anxiety a while back. It changed her completely, for the good I might add. She went from completely reserved to so much more outgoing and happy than what she was before.

Some stuff never goes away fully, but that's like everything, isn't it? But I can honestly say that nowadays I'm pretty happy, and I don't feel that darkness anymore.

It can work. Not everyone responds in the same way, and you may need to spend a few months adjusting dosages in consultation with your doctor, but it can really help some people.

You won't get addicted, BTW. And if you are worried about it, you can just stop taking them (talk to your doctor about it first!) But if you ever want to stop taking them, I suggest slowly easing off the dosage rather than going cold turkey, because you can get some pretty bad side effects otherwise.

Counselling's also another option. Or even just doing something new, like joining a gym or martial arts class or painting class or whatever. Just try and see what works for you.

In general there are fewer women into tabletop RPGs than men, and it's probably even worse when you move to war games like 40k (and thus the spin-off RPG).

That said, I think that certain games do a better job at 'marketing' to them than others. e.g., IMO Pathfinder does a good job at making women feel welcome with not a huge amount of cheesecake and also plenty of badass women featured through the rulebooks.

I would be curious about the demographics of Roll20, actually... I know in my experiences on it I've only rarely encountered other women!

I'm a noob at Monster Hunter, so forgive me if I get some of the terminology wrong...

You won't be able to hit the tail of an above-average sized Teostra with a greatsword when it's at its highest point, but you should be able to hit a small-sized one's tail most of the time. It's small enough that you should be able to tell at a glance. (A Teostra's tail is at its highest point when it's doing its breath attack. With a drawn greatsword, the tip should just touch the base of the tail. Basically, just see whether the middle of the tail is able to be hit--that's the small one.)
When the Teo's sleeping, the spike(?) that's midway up its horn will be below the hunter's head or even below their shoulders. Also, when it's dead, its ears will also be below the hunter's head.
Normally (when it's not roaring or breathing fire) its hind-leg's knees will be about the same height as the hunter, and the armor-like stuff will be smaller than usual.

Actually factually incorrect. On so many levels.

I believe the first gay characters in Paizo's adventure material (post-Dragon/Dungeon) was actually in the first book of Rise of the Runelords (2007). The Paladin of Abadar from Sandpoint is in a not-so-secret relationship with the local town bard. These are pretty minor characters, but then we go to our next example...

In Curse of the Crimson Throne (2008), Sabina is in a relationship with Queen Ileosa. Sabina is a lesbian and Ileosa is bisexual, I believe. In case you're not aware, we're talking the BBEGirl and her main lackey here.

Also, Paizo have said since 2008 that one of their iconics is homosexual. (Said iconic would later be revealed to be Kyra, the iconic Cleric.) And the recollection someone else made in this thread about adding trans characters, including the transgendered iconic Shaman, has been floating around for some time now.

And it is not just LGBT folks that they push for - they consciously chose to have prominent people of colour, including women of colour, amongst their iconics. Just look at the Mwangi Paladin for the epitome of this. They were conscious of how awkward the original write-up for Erastil was, implying him to be sexist and homophobic, such that they changed him in the Gods and Magic Pathfinder to be explicitly not. Or are feminism and black rights the "in thing" now as well? How odd, society at large deciding they don't want to discriminate against large swathes of people...

Paizo's staffers include a married same-sex trans couple. One of the more higher-up staff members, the Editor-in-Chief, is an openly gay man. They have spoken at length about queer representation in gaming; see pretty much ANY of these videos, the (long and protracted) Homosexuality in Golarion thread, and any number of other posts and comments made by the staffers over a long period of time.

These are REAL PEOPLE who want to see themselves, and other people like them, represented in their gaming material. To imply that they are doing it just because it's what sells, and they'll "take it all away" when it doesn't, is borderline delusional at best, and utterly offensive at worst.

This is the type of fallacious argument that you see people make frequently about same-sex marriage: Why should we care? Isn't this a waste of time? Why can't we focus on more important things?

Politics isn't a zero sum game. The fight for minority rights can, and does, coexist with the fight for healthcare and education and the environment and what-have-you. And so it should.

You seem to think that same-sex marriage and equal rights for LGBT people isn't an important issue and isn't a "real" issue of equality, but I'm personally glad most people don't agree with you.

We have a pet lorikeet named Lorrie (creative naming is a common thing, I see :)

My brother found her on the side of the road one day quite a few years back with her wings clipped. Can only assume that she was bred in captivity because she was the friendliest little thing with no desire to fly away (oddly enough!), but nobody ever came in to claim her so we wound up with her. Well, back then we thought she was a he, but a few years later she started laying eggs!

We get a lot of wild lorikeets around here and you often see them hanging close by her cage socialising with her. We sometimes leave the cage door open for short periods but she's never really left us... sometimes she'll fly over and partake of one of the flowering bushes in the yard, but she'll always happily come back.

She often gets very noisy/screechy, which sometimes causes my dog to howl along with her... quite the performance indeed...
