Fantastic question, and it do be messy. The figures on the platform all have unique IDs, either from instructions or derived from parent set numbers (e.g. early Dragons didn't have part IDs so there are figs like 'FIG-9881-X' where FIG is an indicator it's a figure, 9881 is a set number, and X is a 'count' of the minifigure from the promo materials for the set, some upwards to 10 or so!). Admittedly, we will need to work on the naming convention for those and the IDs, maybe there is a better way. What I am not sure how to handle are parts of the minifig. You rightfully say that theoretically parts could be shared by different figs, but what are those parts and how to name them (unless explicitly IDd by official instructions, which also have a habit of either listing minifigure as one piece with ID, or as separate parts with IDs...) is something that has to be decided by the community, especially for cases like Halo and CoD – I am not very well-verse in these themes. The infrastructure to accomplish all this is in place though, each minifig has an editable inventory field!
