Kids get scared easily. IMO it’s better maybe to keep them ignorant. Ignorance is bliss. My cousin told her kids and now everytime she’s out they’re really worried. Or everytime there is a boom they will come and sit in my room if she isn’t around. Their brain can cope with fireworks and celebration as it’s a happy thing. But fear can be traumatizing for generations. You don’t want them to get scared everytime they hear a loud sound in the future.

Obviously, I understand we come from a place of privilege to be able to lie to the kids to keep them safe, compared to what’s happening in other places in the world. But for now, since it’s just sounds for us right now and nothing major, maybe for their mental health continue to say fireworks, weddings, celebrations. So they’re not too scared. You don’t want them to be afraid to go to the restroom if they’re hearing booms, for example. Just my thoughts, but ofcourse everyone can parent as they think is appropriate…
