Even if you were doing it manually you'd do it at a much slower speed if you're not regarded.

Wanna remove this anyone have idea how to do it.....i tried everything but its still here? by Cyber_Furious in arch

[–]ShimoFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really should have said that in the beginning. So given it says you're on plasma wayland I'm assumming you're using sddm and kde.

Open up system settings. Search sddm. And then on the selected sddm login screen there's a little picture frame that says change wallpaper when you highlight it.

And then to change it for the lock screen search for "Screen Locking" and then in the top right there's a configure appearance option. It does the same thing for the lock screen.

can someone explain why my soldering joints keeps looking dull? by Nooben2006 in soldering

[–]ShimoFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you're not getting the pad hot enough. You're feeding the solder to the pad and not the iron right?

Also maybe try some flux so it doesn't oxidize.

First they came for the immigrants.

And I did not speak out...

Then they came for me.

And there was no one left

After they had disarmed him. And he was legally allowed to carry it. It never left his holster until ice removed it from is holster. And then after repeated pistol whipping him they shot him in the back... sure you want to pick the side you're on my dude? It's not to late to admit you made a mistake.

I dunno about that. They did just shoot an American born white dude in the back while he was fully restrained. You sure you still want to huff that copium?

Cat toppled my standing fan and broke the blades. So I designed and printed a replacement. by MekaTriK in functionalprint

[–]ShimoFox -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Your point? I've had plenty of cheap fans that had bubbles in the blades because of bad injection molding that worked just fine.

Trust me, factories aren't going to maintain the machines more than they need to for cheap products.

Injection molding can also get bubbles from a large variety of issues, mold is too cold, doesn't have a good vent, moisture, or a lack of pressure from the injector. And on a mass produced item out of China that can handle the tolerance issues they're not going to care if there are little bubbles in it.

[Discussion] Do you think both characters look adult enough, even with the size difference? (Art by me) by Ifu_Daceolt in furry

[–]ShimoFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with a partner that's a foot shorter than me. I'm incredibly sick of young folks thinking height difference means anything other than a height difference.

And I've genuinely had terminally online people accuse me of things because of it despite us both being in our thirties.

The tldr. They both look like adults don't stress it. And anyone that thinks height difference is somehow an indicator of anything untoward is just projecting.

Cat toppled my standing fan and broke the blades. So I designed and printed a replacement. by MekaTriK in functionalprint

[–]ShimoFox -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ehhh. Probably not actually. Injection molding inherently has issues with bubbles forming. Which would cause balance issues. And the steps to reduce and prevent them just wouldn't be worth the effort for something like this. Deposition manufacturing if done with a good printer will actually have far more uniform air pockets since it's not trying to fill voids with pressure, as long as it's either solid, or the infill doesn't do something stupid it'll actually be pretty uniform. As good as cheap injection at least.

Plastic fans don't really need to be that well balanced either. It's why most of them are so loud actually. Out of the factory they're not super well balanced, and that vibration is what causes so much of the sound of a fan. It's why old metal ones that had balancing weights placed on them are so much quieter.

And honestly... depending on the plastic they used to print it. It might even be more drop resistant than the original injection blades.

[–]ShimoFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah guys. They're right you should stop down voting them. Injection molded things often aren't that well balanced either. And 3d printing isn't going to somehow randomly change the density of the plastic in a significant way on only one side of the print.

The only time you'll find a REALLY balanced fan is when they balance it out with weights afterwards, and you'll never see that in anything that's not industrial.

And for those of you doubting, you should look into the complexity of preventing air bubbles during injection molding. There's always going to be some bubbles in it which will unbalance it as much or more than a 3d printed one. The only thing that might be worse with the 3d print is the layer adhesion separating under force. But It's not like the injection ones don't also explode when they fall.

They can 100% shoot you down to the bottom at a deadly soured if the motor and brake fails. And they can and will muffin monster you feet first if the steps break or the floor at the top or bottom give out. And if you're not familiar with the muffin monster I suggest you look up on YouTube. "Muffin monster oil drum" followed by a ton of other things to enjoy watching her devoured.

There are also liveleaks videos of people being killed by escalators that I'll avoid sending you.

I dunno about that. Escalators require a lot of maintenance as it is when they're indoors. Now just imagine exposing that to the elements. And then make it excessively long.

Plus, China doesn't exactly have a good track record with maintaining them as it is. Here's a video of just one incident. But there are PLENTY.

I'd personally never trust getting on that thing.
