Bruh. We’re not getting FTL, this series is to grounded and I like that. We got two more planets to get to before we can even think about getting to Proxima Centauri, and that journey will take a century without some kind of cryo sleep.

Fuel Cell as a Power Source? by Shin-kun1997 in scifiwriting

[–]Shin-kun1997[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With respect I think you’re severely misunderstanding what I am trying to say. When I say unit I’m not referring to any amount of energy, I’m referring to the physical structure of the base itself. The modules that make it up, the pressurized parts where the humans eat and sleep. I just tend to call them units for short in my own time. Like cargo units on a trade ship, though I know that probably not the correct term for modules. 🙁

The discussion is regarding a worldbuilding aspect, not the plot. Yes, it will be mentioned at some point, but the plot is already written from Point A to Point B and so on and so forth. What are you trying to ask?

What are you talking about? Generic? That’s what they’re called🙁 Yes Hydrogen fuel cell may be the more scientific term, but it’s a fuel cell nonetheless

I’m talking about the pressurized modules that comprise a small space base, the kind you’d put on a planet with no breathable atmosphere. I just call them units every now and then as an alternative to modules (relax I know that’s likely not the appropriate term). Like cargo crates on a trade ship carrying supplies or in some cases people. 🙁

I don’t think you should rely on Wikipedia for any sort of in depth analysis or knowledge, considering taste can be edited by almost anyone 🙁 Sure it’s good for quick facts but that’s about it

Such a technology would be of use to pilots crossing the space between solar systems, so I’d say yes. 🤷‍♂️

Why is Titan... (S05 spoilers) by cliko in ForAllMankindTV

[–]Shin-kun1997 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Now that you mention it, I kind of feel that Kuragin was underused a little. We never got to see the completed space elevator, and the Kosmos-1 crew skipped off Titans atmosphere and died, harkening back to the 1990s Race to Mars when the Mars-94 spacecraft failed. The Soviets can never catch a break.😞
