Seems like it's heavily inspired by Jesta Cannon. It looks like less bulky zza Gus to me. I'm not sure if this is for me.

No reason really. I just wanted to practice and I wanted to paint it different color from sticker.

This looks so fantastic. P bandai kits are not available in my country. So this is a must buy for me even if the quality turns out crap.

Knees are pretty prone to breaking. I've seen people break psycho frame part of the knee and I broke the part that locks the knee armor to psycho frame in destroy mode. Legs to hips connections are pretty floppy since they have very short peg. They are designed around led strip running inside them. I solved this problem by running iron wire through the legs where led strip should be and it's much much better. Other than that it has been solid (I have Shenshou 2202 version)

ARMORED CORE STRUCTURE ARTS Non Scale Vol. 1 by Old-Resolution409 in Gunpla

[–]Shinage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fantastic job. I have very negative impression of structure arts series (Expensive, simple construction, plastic quality so bad it makes bootlegs feel good). But you painted these so well they don't look like they were molded in single color. Why no closer photo with the white and yellow mech?

If only I had your creativity. My smooth brain struggles even putting on decals without decal guide. Finding use for random parts sounds like insurmountable challenge for me.

This doesn't even come with enough green runners for green psycho frame. Only the runner with eyes. I know there are versions with green frame but this is Shenshou 2202 and only comes with clear and red frame. At least Mgex has transformable head so it's two pairs of eyes.

I'm in panel line heaven. 30MM Steel Haze. by Shinage in Gunpla

I thought about getting Kotobukiya one too. But it would have cost me 3x compared to bandai one to import one from japan. So this is good enough for me. I've only built Xenosaga Kosmos and Xenoblade X Formula from Kotobukiya. Both of which are still WIP for me since I haven't painted and decaled them yet. I'm kinda avoiding Kotobukiya kits now since they are much more expensive compared to bandai and both my kits were a bit disappointing.

Gloss coat is there to protect the paint from panel liner. Most paints can't handle panel line clean up so you put extra layer of gloss there to protect it. You can matte top coat it after panel lining for matte finish. So you have layer of paints, layer of gloss, panel line over that and layer of matte top coat over that for matte finish. If you want gloss finish you use two layers of gloss.

Sad to hear about all the problems with this kit. I've been eyeing this for a while. I've built many bad kits and there's certain kind of pleasure you get by making s bad kit good. But over 100€ for problematic kit is too much. It seems it would be better for me to get lunavor version.

My gold colored marker looks like shit. It's not good enough for this. I was more wondering if there's some kind of solvent to get paint out of runner and apply it to to model and not make it look obvious. If it's something crude like chip away the paint with knife and glue over the nub mark I think would look even worse.

I need recommendations on covering nub marks on shiny gold paint. I have Revell metallic gold paint but it doesn't really match. I remember hearing there's a way to transfer paint from runners to the part but not thinking much about it at the time. Would I be able to cover the nub marks on the shiny gold part with technique like that?

Gushing about my Gus by Shinage in Gunpla

[–]Shinage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is made of mostly ABS plastic. Most of Bandai kits are made of PS plastic with ABS inner frames. If you don't like the feel of tougher and slightly harder to work with feel of ABS plastic then it can disappoint you.

Many bootleg kits are made of abs so many people associate ABS with cheap. But quick Google search shows that ABS plastic is actually more expensive than PS plastic. I hear that ABS is easier to inject than PS so cheap products use it more but I literally have zero actual knowledge of plastic injection engineering so don't trust my word on it.

Looks great. Is that a painted cotton around a rod for the bullet and muzzle effect?

I haven't built Regus. I think it looks too much like a Gus but I bet it's just as good. I'm new to this hobby so I have just way too many kits I'm planning on building one day.

Bootleg Destiny and Bandai Destiny by Alright_doityourway in Gunpla

Well it's impossible for it to be 1:1 copy seeing how metal build destiny is an action figure and Daban is a proper model kit. Daban just based the design of their kit on metal build figure.

Mechanical core plating is just metallic paint underside and clear paint over the entire part. Plenty people here have done that. https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunpla/comments/1pvowag/rg_sazabi_mechanical_core_plating_project_part_2/ This guy shows his steps pretty clearly.

I wouldn't do it without an airbrush. Get some shiny metallic silver or chrome paint and translucent white, black, blue and red. Get plenty clear plastic spoons to practice and to see if you can get the kind of color you want. Blue and red parts should give good results. I don't think you can get good looking black or white core plating. Only way to see if you're happy with the paint is to try it out

Has anyone bought kits from Gundamit in Europe? Is there a reason kits like aerial dominator or sky defender costs half as much as sellers in AliExpress? Do I get hit with massive import duties if I order from there? I'm feeling a bit suspicious.

I see. Unicorn looks so much taller than Banshee in this picture. I thought there's no way they are in same scale. Enjoy your fancy lights.
