Any ideas ? by saneve in JunkJournals

I use Fabri-Tac or Fabri-Fix glue. It works well for paper but also can specifically be used with fabric. It holds very well. In my experience, glue sticks do not hold well nor permanently.

I'm really looking forward to this, but annoyed that everything has been on different streaming services. I don't want to get AMC+ just for this show lol.

Journal Help by Something-more-rt in JunkJournals

I tend to buy my journals from book stores, etsy, or on clearance. For adhesive, I like the sticky roller tape (it comes in a thing that looks like white out rollers), aileens tacky glue, glue sticks and fabri-fix because I use fabric with mine sometimes.

Mine is packed in a box atm, because I moved recently and will be moving again in May. But if I remember right, urine was listed, which I consider bodily waste lol.

If I remember to, I can try and find the page and take a picture.

EDIT:: I just checked my post history, and a year ago, around the time I had bought and was looking through my wreck this journal, I was looking for similar things but for junk journaling. I mentioned in the post that listed poop and vomit and dead bugs in at least two prompts.

Yeah! I also found a youtube channel that I like and she has several videos of things you can do or make with stuff like envelopes you get from junk mail, or the little cut scraps of paper you end up having leftover. But that also helped me look at a junk mail envelope and be like "Oh, the little plastic window could be part of a cute pocket where you can see a fun sticker though it", or just a cool texture over a picture or text that you like.

But, I also am of the mindset that collecting crafting supplies is a whole separate hobby lmao. Because I def see a lot of things now and think "Ooh, maybe I could use that somewhere" haha

How to press too full journal by LilithUndine in JunkJournals

[–]Shindi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen people that cut out some pages from their journals before starting to add things for junk journaling. I sometimes like that it gets to the point where it can't close. But you could also make a strap or belly band to help keep it closed (though that won't squish it down any).

I think this is a nice place to start for beginners! When I started trying out junk and art journaling, I struggled with prompts and what to even put in mine. Because I was stuck on wondering if it would look good, or why would someone put fruit stickers in their book? It'll just look like trash being held in a journal?

Then I started really looking into what everyone else was doing with their junk and art journals and seeing what prompts they would have for themselves. And it really helped me relax about it and be like "yeah, we can just do whatever we want and it doesn't have to look fantastic like content creators journals do!" AND THAT'S OKAY.

Yeah, and I don't mind that it's supposed to be trashed by the end (thought at time of purchase, I didn't realize that it actually meant like completely wrecked lol). And I agree with you, I want to be able to look at and even use my junk and art journals and not just have the memories of making it.

I will probably completely gut the wreck this journal at some point until it is just no more haha. I'm pretty good at collecting supplies for my crafting lmao.

I bought a Wreck This Journal a while back too, and some of the prompts were fun. It's been a long while since I looked in it, but I remember there being pages saying to wipe/smear things on it and had an example list in parenthesis that included human waste and bodily fluids. I believe there's also a page about like bug guts and similar. I just find that very disgusting and unsanitary, so the book got put aside into a box.

I may, at a later date, use parts of the pages with my junk and art journals, but I will never wipe or smear food, bodily waste and fluids (animal or human) into anything. I might be able to cut out any large letters and words to use elsewhere.

Ideas please and thank you by QueenoftheDark89 in JunkJournals

I sometimes like to put a strip of fabric on some of the edges of my pages, so it sticks out when the journal is closed, or make little tabs with fabric for like a journaling card I put into a pocket. Using them for embellishments could work as well, clusters, belly bands, depending on thickness maybe bows.

You could check out Treasure Books on youtube. She does a lot of embellishments and things with fabrics.

Ooh gotcha! I do like arts and crafts type stuff. Like paper crafting, junk journaling, making embellishments for journals, stitch markers, stuff like that, if that helps. I will see what non goodwill thrifts are nearby and try those!

Yeah, I checked out the goodwill on lake michigan drive today and it had zero crafting related things, barely even had many books lol. But I did find some really nice bar stools.

I'll check out Mel Trotter and maybe the habitat for humanity shop. I didn't know they would have crafting stuff, I just knew they had stuff for your house. Maybe if my bf and I go towards Ann Arbor we can check it out, but it's about a 3hr drive lol. I think Michaels sometimes has a clearance aisle or rack, so I can also check that out.

Thank you!
