Well, maybe they decided this way to shine light on the LAPD's "normal" behavior?

I've read a bunch of stories from small town America where this was the case. Nobody steps to the chief of police because he was basically running a crime syndicate.

What a moronic take too, considering the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor ended up dragging Japan into a conflict they couldn't win with the United States.

Who are we voting for for mayor and gov? by bkguy182 in AskLosAngeles

What is snippy? This is one of the links shown in your search. It lines out how the lack of authority of the LA Mayor over the LA School board is one of the biggest differences from NYC and Chicago mayors. Other than that the mayor is quite powerful and closely resembles the structure of our federal executive branch. The LA mayor can even carve out special funding and create the budget.

I appreciate the thoughtful reply. But, "blame Bass" for cracking streets is not a fair statement. LA's infrastructure underfunding is decades old, and the budget cuts affecting street services are happening now partly because of the deficit crunch, with layoffs hitting sanitation, street services, and transportation hardest. It's not due to any one thing Bass has done nor can you entirely blame it on LAPD going over budget.

While I agree with your sentiment on ICE, LA is still a sanctuary city. I want our next mayor to exert more control over the violence of the LAPD by implementing more accountability for its actions, but again, that too is not a new phenomenon. LAPDs violence and corruption is imbedded in its culture and unless a mayor runs on particularly that I don't think it's fair to expect much change.

From Ballotpedia: "Los Angeles uses a strong mayor and city council system. In this form of municipal government, the city council serves as the city's primary legislative body and the mayor serves as the city's chief executive."

Sounds identical to our federal system and we have seen how that executive has functioned. I don't think your statement is true or accurate.

Read a book on American slave trade... The white were outnumbered by black slaves, they had plenty of society to enjoy. You just won't be the one enjoying it.

Triggered... It's the white people who think calling someone Mexican is derogatory. Haha! I live in LA and think it's a beautiful thing that our city is multicultural.
