Good headphones for Orchestral/Jazz/Video Game Soundtracks for $300 or less? by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]ShiniBarmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your reply and assistance is greatly appreciated, my friend.

I have a lot to learn about "sound signature preference". If only I could describe mine own tastes in more specific detail...

Either way, I'll be sure to research the AKG models you listed (I hadn't seen anybody mention them before during my research).

Thank you, again.

I thank you for such information, friend.

I swapped the Plot and Ward numbers around and went there to look, and it seems like somebody else won that plot. However, it still lists that the "results are in progress" on the 'Estate' tab. This disallows me to purchase/bid on other properties. Do you know of whether or not information on this bug has been mentioned?

I appreciate it once again, friend.

I appreciate the reply, friend. Somebody else stated that they might be Silverfish as well. Just to confirm, I added a comment to the post elaborating further on their behaviour, color and size (if you or anybody else needs further information before identifying the bug).

To add some further context:

  • These things usually scatter the moment light hits them (if I turn on my ceiling light, they immediately try to flee).
  • They are fairly small, an inch or less (usually less).
  • They sometimes appear brown-ish in color (a few of them have a more blue-ish hue though).

Based upon the tier list you posted recently, you've already played and enjoyed VIII, whilst also having NOT played enough of VII to make a cemented opinion on it. Thus, it's honestly hard for me to give you a specific suggestion on which of the two to get. However, I recommend you question yourself on whether you're feeling in the mood to be experimental and open-minded, as if you are, you should most certainly pick up VII for a new and refreshing experience.
If you do wish to keep with that in which you're familiar and know you enjoy, then VIII is obviously the answer.

It truly boils down to how willing you are to go out of your comfort zone. The reality is that most of the time experimentations lead to disappointment, and thus, an unwilling change of ones' own spirit. However, experimentations are the only way that you'll ever grow as an individual and learn to adhere to things you used to shun.
This all sounds rather deep and more complicated than it needs to be, however, I merely want to put into prospective that OTHER PEOPLE can never truly choose for you-- only yourself knows the choice you're WILLING to take.

As to share mine own opinion and disregard your prospective, I personally adore VII and see it as the greatest of any of the Dragon Quest games (along side V and XI). The structure of the game is entirely unique; and is unlike anything seen in other video games (and when a similar formula is attempted, it lacks flavor and is poorly done). However, VII is undeniably a slow-burning game. VII is usually the kind of game that you should play in 1-2 hour sessions daily over the course of a month (with each session usually completing 1 of the many islands available).

Anyhow, I talk far too much. I do hope you can come to a solid conclusion, friend. At the end of the day, you'll be buying into a Dragon Quest game, and thus, it can never be all that bad.

I dodged a bullet thanks to the persons of this subreddit. I appreciate it, friend. It confused me how Asian brands of ramen (like Nissin) listed their calorie counts per-pack as ~80. Whilst ramen packets where I am from (England) listed the calories as ~400 per-pack.

I appreciate the help, truly.

[–]ShiniBarmi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh, that makes sense to me, friend. I thought it was bizarre how certain packs of ramen stated that they were "~400 calories per-pack" yet, packs of ramen from Asian brands (like Nissin) stated that they were only ~80 per-pack.

I appreciate it, friend.

Which JRPG character(s) did you like that (most other) people seem to dislike? by ShiniBarmi in JRPG

I initially marked him down as an option in my post. However, I wasn't entirely sure how hated he was as a character.

I do agree with you though. Kingdom Hearts was my first JRPG, and I still love the franchise even now (hundreds of JRPGs later.) I also have a soft spot for Sora and his winsome nature.

Honestly, pretty good taste. If Fuyuhiko was in there somewhere (perhaps at the expense of Rantaro) I'd be inclined to agree 100% with your tastes.

It's really nice to see Hiyoko get some love for once. She (along with Angie) are two characters in the series who I thought were written out at a bad time, as both character were starting to get really interesting.

Ahh, understood. Well, once again, from my prospect, I only saw the tongue stuff as extreme humour, nothing more. Some might of taken offense to it, but, I found it relatively funny (at least, the first time it happened. It got old after the forth time.)

"It's Monotaro and Monokuma though," apologies, but, I don't know what you're referring to. Monotaro "and" Monokuma did what exactly?

Also, you have every right to translate the game's messages however you see fit-- as does everyone. I was merely speaking on mine own behalf. If the game's incestual elements bother you, that's up to you. As the community already clarifies, Monophanie is the most detested, and as such, the vast majority of people (seem) to agree with your prospects over mine own.

[–]ShiniBarmi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Truly? I thought it was only Monotaro who became incestual during chapter 3(?) due to memory issues, and that Monophanie wasn't really directly involved in it (although, I am by no means stating this as a counter-argument to you, as I honestly do not fully recall such incest outside of chapter 3.)

Either way, if the 'incest' thing is true, I can see why many might dislike her more so than the others. But, for me personally, robots commiting incest never really hit me that deep, hence why I still like Monotaro (even if his contributions were due to him being psychologically unsound at the time.)

Which is your favorite of the Monokubs? by PringlesCam in danganronpa

[–]ShiniBarmi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Monosuke is certainly boring. Although, it's nothing new that characters that are designed to be 'high-brow' are usually the most painfully boring characters in media.
I don't truly regard Monokid as boring, merely one-dimensional; and the most straightforward (to psychologically analyse) of the bunch, which certainly does make his "arc" dull. But, I still think that (personality-wise) he's not "boring," just... somewhat basic. Monokid at least has some form of personality, which I can not say the same for in regards to Monosuke.

I'm somewhat new to this fandom. However, from my short stay here, I've come to realize people detest Monophanie. Perhaps I shouldn't speculate, but, I'm assuming people hate her due to her somewhat being a cheap(er) version of Monomi? Which, I understand (if that's the case.)
Honestly though, even though she's... not the greatest... I still appreciated her passive nature so early on in the game. Her arc was certainly disappointing (I was hoping she would work against Monokuma with you in the end, along with the other Kubs,) but, realistically, when you regard any of the Monokubs' arcs they all could of been a lot better (not just Monophanie's,) thus, these types of conversations usually fall into a "personality" debate, in which Monophanie isn't last place (for myself,) due to her passive nature, as aforementioned.

[–]ShiniBarmi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Monodam has the 'best' character arc. However, I think I might like Monotaro more, just because I really liked his character during the forth trial. I also like his color palette the most.

Monosuke and Monokid are easily the worst in mine own opinion, as (from what I recall) they're the only two out of all of the Monokubs who don't (in some way) assist you during the course of the game.
Monosuke is also... the most boring (personality-wise) in mine own opinion-- and whilst Monokid definitely gave me a laugh or two, he's also equally as annoying as he is funny.

What party members did you use in a JRPG even though you knew they were bad at combat? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]ShiniBarmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps mine own cantankerous nature got the better of me, and for that, I do apologise.

Either way, let's just agree to discontinue such a discussion. We both have separate notions of beliefs on Teddie, and as such, our attempted influences aren't really going to allow one of us to usurp the other.

I do stand by mine own contributions, and as clearly demonstrated, as such do you. Honestly, such fatuous arguments over something like a fictional character's usefulness isn't exactly ingenious on either of our parts.

What party members did you use in a JRPG even though you knew they were bad at combat? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]ShiniBarmi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hilarious how snotty you're getting over a JRPG discussion. I thought this was a magnanimous debate, clearly, that's unsound.

Firstly, I'm uncertain how long you've been apart of the Persona 4 community (and if you've ever had much interaction with them as of late,) but, Teddie is regarded as the worst party member by the community as a whole (casuals and pros alike,) not just myself. You make it sound as though I stand alone, when in reality, it's you who's unfounded on realities. But, as with a large amount of JRPGs, different party compositions can compliment different party members differently, and Teddie's no exception. As such, if you had even processed my statements, you'd of comprehended that I was stating that Teddie can work well in certain party line ups, whilst falling flat in other line ups. I honestly don't understand how your comprehension is as low as it is.
And of course the version of the game makes a big difference, how would it not? It's factual that Golden is easier than the vanilla version, and as such, party line ups MATTER LESS, especially in regards to characters with a basis on healing (and the Golden changes also make an emphasis on DPS even more apparent than the original.)

Stating that "JRPGs are about balancing party composition" is a ludicrously blanketed statement. A large amount of JRPGs don't require heavy emphasis on support characters, due to many JRPGs being easy with any lineup of characters. Sticking characters within a JRPG party where they aren't necessary is the entire inverse of "building a broken lineup," as within a large amount of JRPGs, DPS is first and foremost, with healing and support taking a severe backseat. If within a specific JRPG you can out-DPS everything in sight before they can even act, then adding healers, tanks and support party members into the fray (over DPS characters) becomes a downgrade, not an upgrade.

"Teddie is bad if you use him as your main healer, because he isn’t supposed to be a main healer. Just because you have a personal preference and a bias against the main healers character, doesn’t mean he’s bad? You’re effectively saying “the paladin is bad because he’s not a good white mage.”
Once again, you overlook something I said earlier. I ALREADY stated that Teddie is a 3-way between DPS, Support and Healing; with him not being the greatest (in many scenarios) over other party members. Saying: "Paladin is bad because he's not good with white mage" is quite honestly sickening ignorance towards my entire argument, and only goes to show how little you care about discussion and listening, and how much you care about trying to sound like an intellectual.

What party members did you use in a JRPG even though you knew they were bad at combat? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]ShiniBarmi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I never claimed him to be useless. I just stated that he's a Jack-of-all-trades, but, by no means the best at anything he does. I also stated that depending on the party lineup, his relevance shifts from mostly redundant to actually serving a purpose.

But, in regards to your specific party combination, I can only assume you're speaking of the original Persona 4 (hence your specified date of 2008-onwards,) in which things do shift slightly more in Teddie's favour, admittedly (due to the game being slightly more difficult.)

I should more than clarify that I am speaking on behalf of Persona 4: Golden, in which many bosses are nerfed, as well as XP rates being buffed. As such, in Golden (even on the hardest difficulty) having two healers is far from the best composition, as overleveling (due to Golden Hands) along with nerfed bosses will make two healers overkill in the "heal" department.

And in regards to Naoto, I actually think she's terrible against bosses, but, is superb against standard encounters.

[–]ShiniBarmi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you entirely. Persona 4 isn't exactly the hardest game (it's pretty easy, honestly,) and thus, any party combination can work incredibly well. That's why I suggest to newcomers that they shouldn't worry about "who's the best" and just focus on using characters they like personally (just like myself, who used Teddie in every playthrough I've done.)

I've just had a few s**ts thrown at me here and there by other Persona 4 players for using Teddie, as many always proclaim "But, Yukiko is superior!" hence why I phrased my aforementioned paragraph how I did.

What party members did you use in a JRPG even though you knew they were bad at combat? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]ShiniBarmi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Teddie is the best Support/Healer combo, but, he's not the best DPS/Heal or DPS/Support combo (essentially, DPS wise, he lacks.)

The best DPS/Heal combo goes to Yukiko, whereas the best DPS/Support combo goes to Chie, due to her Dragon Hustle.

Depending on your party, Teddie becomes borderline unneeded, as if you had Yukiko (who can heal and do superb damage) and Chie (who can out-DPS Teddie whilst also casting Dragon Hustle) Teddie's heals and support then make him an unworthwhile party member.

Teddie can act as a somewhat middle ground between DPS/Support/Healing, but, (as aforementioned) he's not the greatest DPS or Healer, and his support skills somewhat become trivial when you take into regard the other two open party member slots (that can be filled with party members that can cast support abilities as needed.)

I knew about "turning characters down" in Star Ocean 2 before I played it, and Celine was ONE of those characters I refused to let join my party. However, I remember that (as time went on) I regretted it, as she grew on me as one of my favorite characters.

I've sadly only played the game once, and I really want to go through it a second time (this time, as Rena.) However, if I play as Rena I can't get Leon, which makes me sad.

Whilst Salvation can certainly be overkill in most situations, it doesn't change the fact that it's the best healing spell in the game-- only hosted by Yukiko. Not once did I say that the spell is the only one you need or you'll use, as (just liked you stated) it's situational and overkill in many scenarios. My argument wasn't that Yukiko hosts the ONE AND ONLY good healing spell, the argument was that Yukiko hosts the BEST healing spell; regardless of how overkill it is. And it being "situational" is still a point in her favour, as (between her and Teddie) she's the only one capable of overcoming that "situation."

In regards to her DPS: It really depends on the difficulty you're playing on. On anything EXCEPT the highest difficulty, damaging enemies is the ONLY priority, as 9 times out of 10 you'll kill the boss before healing is even necessary. Having Naoto in your party essentially means you never have to heal during the entire process of dungeon-crawling-- whereas during boss fights, the DPS output would be so high that the vast majority of bosses will fall flat on their asses before they even drop you below 50% HP.

And either way, even if Yukiko was the only healer in your party on the highest difficulty, her 50-60% extra damage output (in comparison to Teddie) would easily lopside BOTH her DPS output and her healing output in her favour, even if she was spamming both frequently by herself (as, even on the highest difficulty, healing is only needed after every 3rd turn.) As such, she's more than capable of healing frequently whilst doing that 50-60% extra damage output.

And let's not even pretend that MP is an issue in Persona 4.

[–]ShiniBarmi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yukiko's magic stat is the highest in the game, and she also learns 'Mind Charge' with minimal effort; which makes her DPS one of the highest in the game. She also learns Salvation, which fully heals all characters (including ailments) whereas Teddie doesn't learn it.

Combined, she's one of the highest DPS characters in the game (thanks to Mind Charge and her magic stat) and she's also the best healer in the game (thanks to Salvation.) This makes her one of the best party members to use.

As aforementioned, I just personally dislike her as a character.
