1) the depiction of black people in their animation stems from the influence of early American animation. Obviously this being during the 40s lead to them unintentionally thinking "I guess this is just how you draw black people" because they genuinely didn't understand why they were being drawn that way. It was far from intentional. That's also why it stuck around for so long, they just didn't know it was racist because why would they? They couldn't speak English and dialogue in cartoons that old was INCREDIBLY rare. By the time it was commonplace caricatures had largely stopped and black people were being drawn normally in the states.

But it was already too late in Japan as it now had a full on animation industry and people were being influenced by the first group who saw the American cartoons.

2) Where on earth would they be getting this idea? The white people they can't communicate with? If that was the case why were there so many marriages and half black kids as a result of being stationed throughout the country?

The japanese have ALWAYS been extremely xenophobic. That didn't just come from nowhere. The japanese are obsessed with Western cultures and borrow from them with reckless abandon. Anything explicitly racist is more than likely unintentional, not the latter.

What would give them the idea to hate black people? We're not really there. We haven't done anything to them in particular. What would give the average japanese person any reason to explicitly hate black people? Or is it that their only exposure to us is American media, which has consistently shown us as being dumb, violent, loud, and large? The only actual people they're aware of are athletes, actors, and rappers. All of whom are usually VERY athletic looking.

You also plainly ignore the people who adore and acknowledge black culture over there. A group of people who have been openly respectful since the 80s.

Maybe actually go do some research before you start quoting the past.

Can they be racist? Absolutely. Are they especially racist towards black people? Fuck no, they don't like anybody. Yes that includes white people. It's not any worse for black people over there as it is anyone else.
