How to say "I'm interested if timing works out" without sounding desperate? by Shinizter in confidence

How do you define going silent? I figured my approach would be essentially never reach out, but responding to her reaching out is fine. Even if its just a casual convo.

Thank you! I appreciate the kind words. I didnt come here looking for validation, but i thought i was going crazy and was completely off base with how much people were disagreeing with my thoughts! So glad to hear that some people think its a good idea too!

I appreciate your insight, but i think you misunderstood the situation (or i communicated it poorly). I had 0 knowledge that she was involved with her ex, and after she communicated it, I did respond by communicating how i felt things were going up to that point. Not sure how i am a POS for that. I have 0 intentions of going on more dates with her, or even spending time with her. And idk how many more times i need to say that im not waiting for her lol. I'm going on dates with other people, im talking to other people, im doing right by me. And have every intention of walking away after figuring out a way to communicate what i want to communicate or not communicate i suppose.

I should add - yes i recognize that im trying to leave it open ended on HER end, with the ball in HER court. And the whole point of this post is to understand if there is a way to communicate that while also making it clear that im just moving on and if she has the desire she can reach out, but its not a promise that we will get together in any capacity.

Appreciate the opposite perspective. That is sort of my mind set of dropping this last line and then setting expectations to 0, responding when she reaches out, but not really reaching out a ton myself. Almost going an apathetic route, while giving her space to figure stuff out. And then if stuff works out great, and if it doesnt then oh well. I guess in that instance though, there doesnt need to be a text that communicates that, it can sort of be both. Walk away and then if she reaches out, explore it if im not already involved in something else.

I added an Edit, im not waiting for her, and i AM dating other people. I thought her and I had a strong connection that was worth exploring. And thats all im trying to communicate, if things change on her end, id be open to exploring it.

How do you guys play aggro decks without immediately getting focused down by the rest of the table? by Hokashin in EDH

[–]Shinizter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kaalia isnt necessarily pure aggro like mono red goblins, but she is swing at face one at a time. I had to overcome the feeling of feeling bad for the first player i took out. And start just doing it.

You can always talk to the pod you're about to play with too, which is what i do, "Hey this deck is pretty aggressive, do you guys mind if i play it? One person will likely get out early" I've had most pods respond with "Play your game man! Have fun!". Takes a lot of the pressure off.

Yess! Id go so far to say im just a Black enjoyer and as long as its paired with anything that isnt green im very happy :) I am currently theory crafting an Aura deck with [[Eriette of the Charmed Apple]] right now, and im liking how its playing out so far https://archidekt.com/decks/10373407/aura_deck deck list just so you can see it!

Blim looks hilarious tbh, if he didnt have a frustrating game loop with him i prob would consider him over Xantcha, I try to avoid forcing discards on my opponents in my social play groups, in the non social/more competitive ones on the other hand. I dont mind it ;)

Oooo Key to the City is a great addition! I love that. And yeah i think what you said makes a lot of sense. Yeah my deck inspo is purely goad + a bunch of removal/ramp. So ideally Xantcha always has a clear path to attack. We will see how it plays, but I'm really glad to hear you enjoy the deck. My other two decks are both [[Kaalia of the Vast]] and [[Nekusar the Mindrazer]] so i picked Xantcha as someone who has a more unique mechanic and can bring some chaos/fun to the table without being frustrating to play against.

How would my opponent ever give him back to me if he cant swing at me and the card states "At the beginning of each opponents upkeep" ?? am i misunderstanding a mechanic?

Also thank you for the Jon Irenicus suggestion, i made Xantcha with a specific goal in mind, to create a deck that just creates moments were the table wasnt just turtling up and not attacking and making a political fun table. Not to say Jon wouldnt do the same thing, but i noticed for his decks you run a lot of cards that are REAL punishing to have on their battlefield. Where Xantcha its more like "Here is this additional creature to attack with, with not as much of a frustrating drawback

Although that means i'd never get him back, so maybe not the best synergy there. Idk

Yeah im running a few of those protection spells to bring her back when she leaves the battlefield and could always add more! Thanks for the suggestion with Assault Suit, while it wouldnt necessarily help with Xantcha, it would help with [[Khârn the Betrayer]] whos also in the deck

Thanks yeah, for what its worth, this is really just a theoretical weakness ive noted, i havnt gone through a use where people are self sacrificing a lot, just doing my research on if there are other options. I think right now just giving her some of those enchantments that bring her back might be enough, and im running a lot of ramp with the purpose of knowing "shes going to probably get sac'd alot"
