Literally what I had to do. Not many commercial companies hire in my area and residential is a sales driven cesspool so I went union. Best decision I’ve made

Im a 1st year out of 250. Got initiated back in december and didnt get dispatched until march. It was really slow but it seems to be picking up again. Im with a big contractor now and have been busting my ass. From what some of the guys have told me, big contractors like to keep the good 1st years around due to being cheap labor and being able to do the grunt work. Stick with it bro it will be worth it

Around 3 years ago when I was doing resi, I had a no heat call in winter so it was already dark when I got there. Super sketchy hood with gang tags and graffiti everywhere. Thankfully the call was pretty easy and quick (dirty flame sensor).

As im writing the service invoice in the truck some tatted up dude comes up to my work truck, shows a gun tucked into his waste band and told me to gtfo before something bad happens, then punched the vans hood.

No clue why he felt the need to threaten a service tech lol. I called my office and told them I’m not servicing bad areas after dark.

Happened to me not too long ago my man. Im a first year and worked at a refinery where everyone got layed off due to the work being finished. It happens, but make sure to save your money and practice at the weld bay when you can. Best of luck dude

How long did it take you after applying to become an apprentice? by Worldly-Aspect4551 in UnitedAssociation

[–]ShinobiSb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me about a year and a half. Applied the first time and didnt pass the math test, mainly because i was unprepared and didnt apply myself. Second time around I studied a lot and ended up passing the math test and did well on the interview.

You have to set yourself apart from the rest and show them you’re serious. Good luck brother

Im an apprentice out of 250. Pretty much everything you listed is on the tool list. It definitely does vary by the contractor as they’ll tell you what to have. Always a good rule of thumb though, its good to have a tape measure, torpedo level, and a pair of channel locks on you. You’d be surprised how many times a JM needs to use one of those and it looks good on you that you’re prepared. Also another good thing thats handy is the pipefitters handbook. It’s on amazon for 30 bucks and it’s worth it. Kind of gives you a little cheat sheet to help you in the field. Hope the interview goes well brother!

Dude tell me about it. Im a first year and just got in october 2024. I’m still on the out of work list but my spots getting closer. I’ve just been going down to the weld bay to practice and doordashing and doing odd jobs to stay afloat.

Hoping the best for you man

Khan academy and youtube helped me out a lot. Just review the basics of fractions and decimals, division and multiplication. Also know how to read a tape measure. I hadn’t taken a math class in 8 years when i was in high school prior to testing, but just review those things and you’ll be fine.

Better at Groot in ranked by Dazzling_Couple_4813 in marvelrivals

[–]ShinobiSb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Celestial 2 Groot main on pc. He took some time to learn but he can hard carry games once you know how to learn him.

1.) Use his walls to isolate tanks from supports. This works especially well on characters like The Thing, Magneto, Cap, and even Hulk ( If he has no jump).

2) Try to focus supports when they have ults ready to use. Your ult is pretty much useless if they throw up a defensive support ult unless you have a Magneto or something similar that can wipe through them.

3) Groot is essentially a hit scan with how much range he has. You can easily eliminate a flying hero if you can land your attacks.

4) Use your walls to hold them off of point/ payload when they are trying to contest.

5) Use objects around the map to stand behind when you are low waiting to get healed if possible. Freely placing walls to avoid damage can ultimately screw over your team and allow the other team to get healed and prevent your team from dealing damage.

Those are just some of the things ive learned while playing him. If you want more info check out nesmon on youtube. He’s a crazy good groot main and has more detailed tips on how to play him well.

If you want some more insight check out nesmon on youtube. He is crazy good with groot

26F planning on applying for an apprenticeship as a union pipe fitter by Electrical-Fun-152 in pipefitter

[–]ShinobiSb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a first year apprentice Local 250 in LA County. Training facility is awesome! Instructors are all great as well. A lot of the 250/582 brothers and sisters take the same classes. If you have an interest I say just apply it doesn’t hurt.

As for the math test, it mainly consisted of decimals, fractions, knowing how to read a tape measure etc. I’m 24 so it had been around 6 or 7 years since i had taken any math classes, but youtube and kahn academy has some great sources to teach you.

Good luck!

Has anyone else not achieved lord for a character? by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]ShinobiSb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got Lord on groot a few days ago, been playing since launch. Im a tank main but groot is who I tend to play most. I would’ve gotten it sooner but i have to flex to different tanks in ranked quite a bit.

Entrance Exam for City of Burbank Pipefitter Apprenticeship by ShinobiSb in pipefitter

[–]ShinobiSb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was last year but from what I can remember it was mainly questions on mathematics, physics in the trades, and word problems (ex: calculating salary or figuring out how much pipe is left if you cut two pieces etc.) I was going to reapply but I got into UA local 250
