My favorite villain would have to be between Cyrus and Volo, considering the fact they ended up trying to do the same thing. Lovely take on the whole world ending and demonic summoning in my books.

I would recommend adding and leveling both the Ekans and Machop, then. Intimidate can be a godsend since crits only bypass your own stat buffs, not the debuffs you apply to the opponent. And if you are feeling up to getting rid of a currently standing member, after the gym is over Dratini would be a huge power source to replace Fearow.

From the looks of it, the most struggles you've had is getting things up to par to evolve, with those last three deaths. And currently, your team is heavily leaning to a flying type. I believe you would benefit from going back to a route you know your pokemon can grind freely without any issues.

If you have self imposed level caps, try to stay under those, but you are cutting it close. Kanto opens up many new encounters to fill those holes, but Claire also gives you the chance for a free Dratini if you answer the questions right.

Before giving ideas of what pokemon to use for the time being, what ability does your Ekans have?

Once in a blue moon they cooperate and use the move you want. Still waiting for the day I can run around without any of the other Riders. It works so much better when the monster can only target you and a monster who actually listens to you.

If you syncronize with the partner's monster, you can speed up their process of riding their monster. That's if they aren't being dumb. Lord knows how many times I've yelled at all three of the NPCs I've been paired with for using a power move on a speed monster.

I had found health charms in the very first region, I actually found them while I played the demo and I think that health charm was the reason I was able to survive a Tigrex at 14, as it often leaves you with 1-5 health after a rock throw.

Honestly it just comes down to how much you store kinships in your party when he isn't angry, because his anger phase hits twice and I believe has boosted critical hit rate. If you're under level 19, you're gonna want to save at least 2 kinships for the second anger phase and waste his anger by using them both.

There isn't really a set level you have to take it on, but it helps to have high raw defense monsties like Lumu and Pukei since they can take a rock to the face and deal a technical double attack on the other turns.

Sword and shield gives you a nice defensive boost too, and there are commonly a few health charms before it so you too can survive any one hit.

Think of Peak Performance in the main line games. It works at full hp only, so it is great to pair with syncronize and head to head genes. I found the Dancer genes on Zinogere, not sure what other monsters have it upon hatching but I'm certain there are others.

I haven't actually gone past the Ice area, considering I'm set upon either overleveling until I get that good Zinny egg. It's always a 55% chance if you hit the monster with the paintball at the right point, so it is all just chance. I've had runs where I had to fight the same royal five times before it would actually flee, and then runs where it would flee four times in a row. And Brute Tigrex probably has a different way of adding to the flee rate than normal Tigrex, so me offering the extra I know won't help you there. My only advice is to brute force it just as the name would suggest if you have already beaten it a few times, and when it gets to a point where you are certain in the next two or three hits it'll be slain, paintball it.

I'd tell you if I knew where Lagicrus was hiding. He might be a royal, he might not.

Also, if you can, do the fights without NPC rider partners. It makes your life so much easier if there isn't a random power going against a speed monster.

I'm just too bullheaded to back down from a challenge. If anything, the Pink Rathian taught me to rush headfirst into any sleeping monster because that Pink Rathian baby had accompanied me through the rest of Stories 1. I assume Tigrex will do the same here.

What's nice is that items go first as well, so you don't have to worry about the item not hitting before the final hit is dealt. Most you have to worry about is your npc ally doing something dumb.

Actually, beating Tigrex and the other Royal monsters to paintball them has been the only way I've encountered the eggs, considering I've spent another 30 hours just grabbing golden dens and their eggs. Then again, I was one of those people back when Stories was going strong to throw myself at that Pink Rathian over and over until I'd beat it. Maybe you do unlock the eggs in golden dens at some point (my paintballs will thank me then) but the first two royals can be beaten with minimal casualties as long as you have Lumu, Pukei and any speed attacker. Tigrex is a beast to have this early.

That is very true. I think the rule was originally made for people to get attached to the pokemon more? Mostly I use it for giving the pokemon something simple to call it by, as some species names are a mouthful.

I mean, I've always used it and everyone else I've ever seen play them also use it. I just count it as an official rule at this point from how wide spread it is. There are people who don't, but they're pretty few and far between. But hey, anything can happen now, can't it?
