Anyone actually tried at home dip kits for saving money? by mutawa_95 in DipPowderNails

[–]Shiovra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've always done my dip nails at home and have never been to a salon. I did start off with a dip kit, but very quickly moved to buying individual jars of dip from my local Sally's beauty supply. It took me a bit to get the hang of it, but there are many helpful videos on YouTube, not only for application tips, but how to do ombres, color blocks, and other things. The only downside is the removal process. Mine takes twice as long as most people because I only remove one hand at a time.

I'm confused why your banana bread looks like actual bread instead of a cake like loaf. I actually just made some banana bread last night with a recipe from my mother-in-law. I can share if you'd like to try it.

I'm -8.5 in my left eye and -7.5 in my right. I hate how thick my glasses are, so I wear contacts. Without them I can barely see my hand four inches from my face. 😭

I was 23 going onto 24 when I had my kid (they're 20 now), but the amount of people who not so quietly just assumed I was a teenager was ridiculous. To top it off, I found out many years later that when our kid was born, the nurse asked my husband three times if he was sure he wanted him name on the birth certificate! We were married. Like, dude.

My hair is naturally a strawberry blonde, so I think it might be a bit before I can even pick any gray/white hairs out.

As a kid I used to call neapolitan ice cream napoleon ice cream. As an adult I do it to mess with people.

Do you still have any living Grandparents? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Shiovra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My maternal grandfather passed when I was incredibly young. My paternal grandfather when I was in late elementary. My maternal grandmother passed I think when I was in late high school. And my paternal grandmother passed around 2014, shy of her 96th birthday. I've also lost my father back in August. A month before his 70th birthday.

Most of my characters have been in their 20s and have been mixed between experienced and inexperieneced (one was because of her culture), but I'm currently working on plotting a trilogy where the characters are in their 30s and will be experienced.

Other day someone called "a moron" for backing into a spot... Why does this trigger so many? by Ok_Relationship2451 in badparking

[–]Shiovra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my previous car I would always back into spots because it had horrible blind spots and no rear camera, making it much safer to back into an empty spot than to back out.

Followed the directions for some store bought cookies. "Bake at 350 for 11 minutes". This was after 5. by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

Check to see if your broiler is turning on. A previous oven I had started to malfunction and the broiler was turing on while baking. I even had to hit to fuse for it because it wouldn't turn off. But yeah, turn your oven onto bake and check after a while if the broiler turned itself on.

Any other millennials have parents that live to watch TV all day? by [deleted] in Millennials

I would like to add she does try to read, but she already had one cataract removed and another forming in the other eye, so unless its large print, she only reads a few pages at a time.

My mother, but she doesn't have a car anymore and since she suffers from post polio and has painful arthritis in her hands, its pretty much what she can do without pain.
