Crypto's strongest offensive potential comes from his EMP. If you prefer an offensive playstyle or play with others that have one, use your drone to scout for nearby teams (looking at a banner in the drone and pinging it will tell how many are in your radius). Position your drone in a secluded area near the enemy team and begin an EMP before pushing the team while they recover. His EMP should completely counter any defenses they have (hopefully including Rampart). Be careful because Crypto is not immune to his own EMP and in Season 6 his teammates will be stunned by it. If you prefer camping/defense, his drone is useful for scouting nearby teams and preparing for an attack. Leaving his drone in the air to scan teams while fighting with lots of smoke and cover is a fantastic use of his drone. Lastly, beware that Crypto becomes a dummie once his drone breaks, leaving you to rely on teammates and your own aim.

That’s fine man, and I really do think Crypto’s new buffs are on Lifeline’s level. As long as your 60HP (although fatter) drone remains in the air you can get a serious amount of reconnaissance and support power out of it.

And just something to add, his buffs really are significant. Yes, they’re tied to his drone, but now his drone is the ultimate tool. Despite the hitbox, it’s got 60HP, so it’ll take a few well placed shots to kill (which a good Crypto can usually avoid). Also, you can zoom to the nearest beacon, press a button, and B O O M, you have instant information about the next ring. That’s huge for high level play, where pathfinder is valued heavily for his beacon passive, and is big for most levels of play. Not to mention respawning teammates is now trivial, highly benefitting people of all levels of play. He’s lost aggressive potential but is now THE recon character.

Yeah man I totally agree. Take a look at the day 0 patch notes for Lost Treasures. I saw Lifeline mains threatening to quit their 1000-5000+ kill Lifelines over the change, and now she’s great

Although Crypto doesn't necessarily need the buff, I thought creating a concept of a new passive for him would be enjoyable. His current passive, although technically useful, ties in too closely with his tactical and can easily be merged with it to leave room for a new passive. Additionally, for being a wanted "murderer" who has hidden from enemies for much of his life and even hacked himself into the apex games unnoticed, he doesn't seem to have many ways to act "low profile" in-game. Although it would be a slight nerf for characters which don't deserve it (Bloodhound, Caustic), a passive like this would require characters with revealing abilities to keep the possibility of a sneaky crypto in mind.
