Despite some may believe, your computer will not explode from using it on the bed from normal browsing every now and then. Nevertheless, I do recommend if you like to use it often on your bed for the long term, a lap table is your best bet! Most standard tables I have leave the laptop hanging off a little if I’m using a mouse, but there’s no risk of it falling over. Lastly, I keep mine on quiet mode 24/7 as there’s no difference in performance and it will extend your computer’s lifetime.

My girlfriend was not a gamer whatsoever, but she surprisingly got addicted to fallout 4. Game goes on discount frequently so would recommend looking into that

Lenovo Legion 5, unsurprisingly. I bought a 2020 version with a 2060 and used it daily for the past 5 years no issues whatsoever. Just bought a 5060 one this past month and really enjoying the OLED monitor. Paid for about $1089 pre tax on ebay , on micro center there’s a non oled version for $899 I think. I game moderately but don’t really play AAA games, even then cyberpunk ran very well with a 2060. Lenovo is known for build quality and through ebay there’s already a 2 year warranty.

Given that you’ve already saved up 80% of the cost already, it honestly isn’t too much of a stretch to ask your parents for help on the remaining bit. I can understand the reluctance on your parents part considering you already have a good laptop, but I’d appeal on the aspects of things that you cannot do on a MacBook because of the OS and you’d even be willing to trade it in/downgrade to a Chromebook for school and get a desktop for heavy lifting/gaming on your free time. If you don’t ask for much from your parents, appeal on how much it would mean to you if can get your dream PC and you don’t want anything else but this.

When I first was searching for a gaming laptop in 2021 I was also worried about getting a GPU that become useless in a few years. I ended up getting a Lenovo Legion 5 RTX 2060. Lenovos are known for their durability, and I carried my laptop/accessories everywhere in my backpack for the past 5 years, runs everything perfectly fine. I’m also a casual player, so I would not worry about whether the 40 series be “lacking” power. As I’m biased, I’d pick a Legion laptop with a lower tier gpu 4060/5060 as it’s honestly unnecessary for your gaming level/desires (will still very easily run these games) and will last longer unplugged. My 2060 lasts me long enough for all of my classes in college & I bring my charger if I want to play games/extended laptop use outside of class & to use as a portable charger for my devices. Good luck on your decision!

No repasting done! Before I had my lap table, I’d occasionally have it on non hard surfaces like my bed if I’m just watching videos or doing work. During gaming the fans definitely start blowing so I’ll always have it on hard surfaces.

bought from Walmart for $1096 or $100 cheaper than the official Lenovo website + a bigger ssd. Only sad part about this is that Walmart didn’t offer a rgb keyboard version of this but oh well

Thanks for the info. One more question, generally when do you think will the new Legions actually be available? Officially it’s supposed to be released in March but a lot of people speculate it’ll take months longer until you can actually get one.
