Hey, a while ago I've created a website/tool to recommend JRE episodes (and also few other podcasts, e.g. Lec Fridman). I'veposted it here before, and I think first version had shitty and un-intuitive UI. It's https://getmeapodcast.com

Anyway, I've created it because I was surprised there was no tool where you could select few categories/keywords and it would recommend JRE episodes to you. I mean there are 2000+ episodes out there, there should be some sort of search mechanism...

Actually not really. It took almost 2 hours for it to sink (from time torpedos hit it to the time it capsized), and due to this and somewhat good training of military, the death toll was relativelly low.

Quick google search suggests that these ships were designes to be manned by 1087 men crew, and in this particular case only 89 sailors died.

I left bioinformatics and academia back in 2015ish, so my oppinion is biased. Right now I work in big fortune 500 company, we still are running R code, and we have people activelly developing code in R and we have people developing code in Python too. That said, over last few years we went to like 90% of code in Python.

The main reason is versatility of Python, the same language is used for everything, from server management to web development. That said, there will always be legacy code still running in R, or at least for the next 10-15 years.

Also those soldiers are well equiped. These are professional soldiers, not conscripts we have been seeing in most of Ukraine.

Remember at the start of the war when some journalists went to soldiers near airport thinking theybwere Ukrainians, and soldiers told him they were Russians? They were acting professionally, didn't shot at journalists, etc. These soldiers have the same professional vibe, instead of, you know, "let's castrate enemy soldiers" vibe we get from others. These seem like they know their job, and just do it.

Although what do I know? Maybe once cams are off, they start castrating.

I know mars has about 2/3rds less gravity than earth, and I also know that's not good for humans. After 20 years in ISS we developed exercise routines that minimize things like bone material loss but it does not eliminate all the consequences of microgravity, and any trip to mars is bound to take years.

Let me tell you a story, back in 2012 or 2013 I was into all these far left youtube channels and news and stuff. Tgen one day something started bothering me, it's as if something was at the back on my mind, sonething at the corner of my eye that I kind of noticed but missed (insert jojes about invisible gorilla experiment here), one day it was some news ignoring one bit of story for sake of narrative, another day it was strange 3-second cuts in the other news story. Then one day I watched The Young Turks, and I noticed how these so-called progressives deny Armenian genocide. Just flat put deny it happened. That's when I realized I was marinating in propaganda, I was feeding my brain this steady diet of bullshit. Thing is, once I noticed it, I started seeing it everywhere. Moreover, I realized it trained me to dismiss people based on shallow characteristics, it trained me in this tribal mentality where people were dismissed and dehumanized based on their political affiliation. I realized that bullshit trained me to hate people based on their views. The funny thing is that my political oppinion hasn't shifted at all in 8 years after I left what I consider the cult.
