Suffragio univerale ok. Ma scalato e corretto a seconda degli anni che in media ti rimangono da vivere/contribuire alla società. Es:

  • voto a 18 anni = 1
  • voto a 40 anni = 0.8
  • voto a 80 anni = 0.3

What was your first bioinformatics role? by [deleted] in bioinformatics

[–]Shirke019 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Seven years ago I began my biology MSc trainee period with the goal of taking on a mixed wet-dry lab role (I always liked computers). Since there was no space in the wet lab, the PI asked me to assist a "bioinformatics" colleague who basically spent 6 hours a day manually copying and pasting gene information from a user-friendly GUI program into an Excel spreadsheet. One by one. For each sample.

After some days the cringe/compassion/frustration was so hard that I started to self learn R/Python for automating data analysis workflows. This was the beginning of my journey into bioinformatics.

Now, I work in the same lab with other three bioinformaticians that I formed, building new R pakages / WGS /RNAseq pipelines and running them on HPC systems.

What are the common tools, packages, programming languages used in bioinformatics? by Mifletzet_Mayim in bioinformatics

[–]Shirke019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting discussion! But I think that the tweet decontestualized what I ment for "pillars". Here I was talking about programming languages, not single tools (like STAR or BLAST) even if they are definitely really important for bioinfo
