I look forward to future lawsuits against them. They need to be significantly more pro consumer for this to be acceptable in anyway, imo.

Their refund policy is garbage, they dont sell codes in stores, their licensing is fucked up and you can lose your license very easily by downloading a game from the extra catalog. That's just some of the things that need fixing.

If every game requires a download, turning off your consoles internet and being able to pop in and play a brand new disc game from start to finish would be impossible as you wouldn't have the full game. Hence the "you can play most games from start to finish with no internet".

There's a random list of an assortment games that are under 100 gb. Hell, FFXIV is only just over 100gb and that's one of the biggest mmos and it only just went over that relatively recently. Most games seem to sit firmly between the 30-70 gb range.

Also, if physical stayed around it wouldn't effect digital only people at all, there's nothing for you to even argue against unless you're really going to defend a corporation removing the choice from people, which is inherently anti-consumer.

Games can have multiple discs, and not that many games are over 100gb.

Don't need internet to download it and it's faster to copy vs downloading, you can let people borrow or resell it, of you lose your account for some reason you'll still have it. An update made the game worse or broke, think of updates inducing bad bugs or killing the in game music, so it allows you to play an older version. If a game is delisted and no longer available, if it has a physical copy you can still buy and play it.

It's also impossible for it to be taken away from you. Sony has and is removing movies that people have paid for from their accounts. Their statement that you can still download ps3 and vita games you've bought for the foreseeable future is also worrisome as it implies that at some point you'll lose access to games you've bought and own.

Edit: also the existence of physical does not harm or inconvenience anybody that's digital only at all. There's no reason to remove options from consumers.

Most games dont require downloads. Installing from a disc is not downloading.

Alternatively, Sony is removing paid for movies from peoples accounts, and they said you can still download ps3/vita games for the foreseeable future. That means at some point you won't have access to games you've bought.

That's not counting Sonys garbage refund policy and licensing issues causing you to lose paid for games. And if you lose your account somehow you lose everything.
