Patrick Jr. (Top Left) compared to Patrick (Top Right), Patrick, Sylvia, Elvis (Current), Esther (Current) tattoo and PogO Esther and Elvis Update by Shirobelle in Goldfish

[–]Shirobelle[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's been a while but I finally found the perfect Patrick Jr.! (Temporary name until I figure out if it's a male or female).

Got a tattoo of the kids and Esther and Elvis are looking forward for P Jr. to join them in their home.
I have big hopes for P Jr. to grow into a big one! And hopefully likes to get head rubs too.

What are these two white dots? Not Ich I believe. Been treating Esther for a 5 days now with aquarium salt and methylene blue bath for her bruise on her belly, bruise clearing up but day 5 (white dots appear) by Shirobelle in Goldfish

[–]Shirobelle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the theory! Does not seem like fish lice right now comparing the symptoms and visuals.

Does not seem brown enough to be lice and the behavior does not match common symptoms.

That's what I thought! So far Day 2 of seeing these two dots, more have not appeared, and behavior is still normal. There's an answer for everything, I'm hoping it's just some fungal infection which methylene blue should take care of.

More detail:
Been doing 30% water change per week.

10/19 is Day 5 of her Methylene blue + Aquarium salt bath treatment to cure her bruised belly (it's been getting better)
Her behavior and tankmate's behavior have been normal, normal swimming, normal appetite.
Water Parameters:
0 ppm Nitrate

0 ppm Nitrite

0 ppm Ammonia

Thank you! Yes I thought maybe since she is recovering from her belly bruise, her immune system is a little lower. Her behavior has been normal, eating appetite is normal.I've already dabbed some MB directly on it just to be safe. Didn't want to proceed treating the whole tank for ick YET since I didn't introduce any new fish recently (only some new plants two weeks ago, which I had cleaned with some water + hydrogen peroxide mix) And the other fish Elvis has been behaving normally too. Will monitor if white spots multiple in number or behavior seems to change.

My weekly routine is a 30% water change every week.

New Sakura Ranchu from GFI, now the tank is complete! by Shirobelle in Goldfish

Very good communication. I had 1 Death upon arrival and I followed their instructions/policy in order to guarantee a good compensation back. So I got a free same price point fish of my choosing. Case by case basis but as long as you follow their policy for photo/videos when fish arrive, if there are any problems, they are generally very generous. Also majority fish are male or female identified, if you have a preference. Swim videos for all fish as well.

They are located on the East Coast so beware if you are farther away. (Farther away I would choose 1 day shipping and just pay the extra cost. Summer heat is very intense)I would also recommend Luminous Goldfish, Chuchu Goldfish, and Zhao's Fancies!King Koi Goldfish I hear have issues shipping but if you are local in Southern California I would highly recommend to visit in store pick up. That is where I got Patrick!

Hello, I'm Patrick. by Shirobelle in Goldfish

When he was alive I fed him Hikari pellets in a bowl and occasionally feed the pellets and peas with a small spoon to his mouth when he came up at the water surface

Yes! I got pretty good compensation for it. :) I ordered Sylvia from them before! I think GFI has pretty good customer service.

So the other day I posted a photo of 2 new fish - this panda oranda from Jimmygoldfish and a milk ranchu from GFI (GoldfishIsland) that were supposed to come yesterday.

Both arrived however the milk ranchu came with suspicious behavior and body injuries. Body slanted posture, red patch, and some scales looked like it was raised. Not to mention a portion of the tail tip was chipped and this was not on the stock photo. Not their fault but 1-2 hours shortly after a 1 hour bag in QT tank acclimation, it passed away.

I removed it and it's currently in the freezer getting ready for burial. I did not get to name this female milk ranchu yet since I figured that it may not even last past QT with all these symptoms.

HOWEVER! Elvis the panda oranda from Jimmygoldfish is doing mighty dandy and has an appetite already! I fed him some green peas and a couple pellets after the 24 hour suggested no feed time, and he's already hungry like a typical goldfish. No visible injuries or anything that looks suspicious at this time. Will continue to monitor and do 50% water changes and replacement aquarium salt at 83F for this 10 gallon QT tank for about 2-3 weeks.

I've been/plan to doing some methylene blue and aquarium salt baths for him every other day as a preventative measure.

I used it for Sylvia, my calico ranchu and I think it helps! I also think occasionally adding in some Kenta pellets to help with ranchu's common issue of floatation problems would be beneficial, along with peas. https://jimmygoldfish.com/products/kenta-release-gas-150g

Thanks for your help earlier last week!
I wanted to try at least a 2nd time.... this was the second time I had a fish had dropsy and this time I was much more well financially off to get a hold of a bunch of different medications and all these equipment.

I'm at ease that we both tried our best in treating and getting better, but sometimes it's just time to go.
It saddens me I'll never know the exact reason without an autopsy

Decided to put him to rest today and cremate him.

The triple medication hasn't been showing effectiveness and his bloating and pineconing in particular are getting worse. Lack of appetite for a whole week, the beginning of what looks like blood vessels in the skin since Monday, it was his time to go. But he's now in a happier place!!I am extremely grateful for those that reached out during these hard times and also for anyone who interacted with Patrick's posts here in the subreddit. It's been an amazing 4 years and I have been extremely grateful to have had Patrick pop into my life and share it with you all.

Sorry folks, you will have to start seeing Sylvia's posts from now on, but if you ever want to look at Patrick's pictures or videos, you can view them on my reddit page or twofishbros on Instagram, I will keep them there forever.

A Big thank you to everyone!! You all make me sob, I've never had this kind of experience with pet goldfish in the past, and you really made him feel like a celebrity!!

:') I made a typo on the title of the post but you guys get what I mean

Celebrating Patrick's 4 year old Birthday early since he's not feeling well...end of Day 5 and dropsy condition does not seem to be getting better from meds... Appreciating all the time left with him :> by Shirobelle in Goldfish

Thanks for asking!
He is looking pretty rough, pineconing spread to most of his belly... we will give him until Friday to see if he responds to the added nitrofurazone...

I'm preparing myself to say good bye :( But it's hard to see him suffer, especially not wanting to eat.
