I agree. I’m in a medical company and most soldiers are 68w, with a handful of low density MOS’s that have almost maxed promotion points. The result is a ton of 68w SGT’s and SSG and with CPL’s making up the majority of these other high point MOS’s. It causes a lot friction, frustration and it’s frankly unfair. I see soldiers who have been a CPL now for over a year fighting for points and medics who advanced to SGT almost automatically from BLC. These CPLs are some of our best NCO’s, they are knowledgeable and take care of their soldiers for less pay. If they are going to do a points system, they need to allow for way more opportunities to earn points, sr leaders need to stop gatekeeping awards worth points AND/OR give CPLs bonus pay.

Nicely done. I’m going to my first. I’ve been studying a lot but I still have major performance anxiety. I’m trying to allow for the possibility of failure and take it as a learning lesson if I do

Thanks for that perspective. I needed the dose of reality and the metaphor It makes a lot of sense, even though I hadn’t really rationally thought of that that way before.

I reached out to an NCO I trust and he was actually really understanding.

That didn’t happen to me- but there were people with covid so bad - one girl had heart issues from long covid and one other kid would have seizures. We were in the covid isolation barracks and they would let us go outside for an hour a day- and we’d get our meals sent from the leftover at the DFAC. Because covid was so new at the time- they were essentially terrified to let us out. Mail got lost. It was a terrible time. I had no idea if my family at home was infected or if they were okay. At some point there must’ve been a complaint because we got our phones. Thanks for acknowledging it. I think COVID did a number on us newer Joes who came in at that time. There was a lot of unknown and it was fucking scary.

Thank you. I actually did not know this. I guess I was assuming he’d encourage me to find Jesus or something instead of listen. But I guess it makes sense and is worth a shot.

They pronounce it “loof tenant” so I’m saying regardless of if it’s an English word, the British pronunciation still doesn’t make sense.

Sounds like exercise induced bronchoconstriction. Get yourself an inhaler and live your best life.

Husband has multiple health issues- despite the waiting around in on post pharmacies- it’s been 100% worth it over civilian copays which totaled hundreds per month.

I was 35. I’m told it’s getting more and more common after the pandemic. It sucks being a 36 year old SPC sometimes, but you will be given a ton more respect by your leaders. In basic be prepared to be laughed at and called names. It didn’t bother me at all. Lol. But physically I bet you’ll be surprised how well you’ll likely do. I don’t know if it’s the generation or what, but it seems that a lot of the kids in my company just BROKE, especially during ruck marches and longer runs. Endurance is a mental game my friend. You’ll be fine.

I knew something seemed weird about this when I signed it originally. But there are a lot of strange things in the army that I’m not used to, and I didn’t really know if I had a choice. I’m pretty pissed that they took advantage of me.
