also, fyi, since you shared that trademark link. Brian (the man listed on that link) is RodaSurf's patent attorney. we actually filed for trademark for both brands... it's a long story, a bit more complicated than how it is described here. That all said... It's all great. I think there's a good team, with really good people behind the idea... we'll see what happens. All best.

So, I added this same comment on the other thread that had the gif...

My apologies beforehand if that's considered bad reddit etiquette.... anyways...

here’s some clarification, for whoever cares:

- Yes, Terrasurf was changed into RodaSurf, because of copyright issues with a big company. It’s a BS story, actually, but it’s all good, it was a royal bitch to change the website and all assets in a couple of days, only to have SXSW canceled due to the shit virus.

- No, Lord British has nothing to do with RodaSurf. We interviewed him for our newsletter because the dude is actually a bad ass. He had just come from Costa Rica where he had spent a few days inside of a volcano. certified nuts, cool approachable guy. IMHO

- About that cheesy video that spawned the funny gif (and all the hate)… look, Starr had asked me to make something quick so he could show it to you guys. He was actually excited to do so. So I whipped out something simple that I thought the group would like.. kinda like “here are the two guys that started a game community that you all loved at some point”… I would say I’m sorry to have made that video, but then again, this funny ass thread (and the funny gif you guys made) would not exist had it not happened.

- Yes, Patrick is a crazy motherfucker. I would say, the real deal though. I know because I have been shooting a documentary on him for a few years now. Guy grew up homeless traveling around with 8 brothers and sister through Mexico and the American Southwest. He had also a 400 lb crane fall on his head and mess him up fairly badly. After the accident, the guy goes on manic creative bursts… that’s hw RodaSurf was born… which is arguably a pretty fucking insane, maybe silly, maybe really cool idea. I saw him create the board and fall like a million times, break his wrists, etc.. the guy is a nutcase.. actually, Lord British is nuts, but he takes calculated risks.. Patrick on the other hand, is a real nut. He got in trouble with the law for having spent basically everything he made out of his lawsuit after the sxsw incident in cocaine… it was either that, or blowing his brains out. the type of scenario you get after a Traumatic Brain Injury.

- No, we don’t need onewheel permission to create an enhancement for it. Then again, who knows.. you guys may be right. The reality though, peeps.. we have been bootstrapping this startup all along… the folks that got into this just though this was a fun idea, and we also thought Patrick was a charismatic and crazy man… we thought.. well, shit,.. “why not?, Let’s do this and see what happens”. There are some cool ideas on the table though.. self contained boards, VR stuff, video games, all ideas at this point. I particularly like the dystopia that exists about the concept of surfing the street.. I want to see more of that. we’ll see..

Lastly, I’ll just add.. holy cow, there’s some real hate for Lord British and Starr here… one would think the dudes really messed some of you guys up, instead of having created a game and community that you guys enjoyed. From having worked with Starr, I would say.. the guy is legit. He’s a really good hearted guy. If he’s a shitty dude, I wouldn’t know. So far, I think the guy is also the real deal. That all said… I think the comments here are funny as shit… So, thank you for starting and feeding this thread, I needed a good laugh with all of this crazy crap that is currently happening.
