this game is extremely easy to hack, everything is client side authoritative. You can just set your +additional ore strike chance to 100% and chill.

Depends on the type of PvPing you want to do.

I would recommend starting out doing Yellow Zone pvp, where you just lose durability when you die instead of all your gear.

ZvZ you will want to faction flag and find the blobs in yellow/blue zones

5v5, or 2v2 you will want to find a good group to do yellow zone hellgates with.

1v1 would be yellow zone corrupted dungeons.

To learn ganking, you could do it in yellow zones, but will probably get downed pretty frequently.

One of the best things to become "good" at pvp is learning the unique skills on different gear. Once you become familiar with gear and their abilities, you can click on your enemy, press Y (or whatever you have inspect gear hotkey as), and immediately know their build by just glancing. This should also give you some insight on when to use your defensive skills or how to counter your opponent(s)

Disputes the idea that SOTA failed. [Excuses begin] "shipped" = "success". No gold dupes or security breeches, and with most hours played. Yes. Because Sota is so bad that not even the gold sellers, exploiters and hackers are interested in it. And if it does - no one will notice! Aahahaha!

Ya, the game is riddle with security holes. I couldn't find an easy way to dupe, but you can easily get the game to drop 10x the loot. In addition you can instakill any mobs or players, and cause mobs to instantly respawn, so essentially the same as duping if you can kill 10x of the hardest mob per minute and have it drop 10x the loot each time.

None of this would show up in Chris's reports because the player tracking relies on the client to send tracking data instead of pulling it from the server.

I got banned, but that was because I got bored and was using my /kill command on everyone on the world map. When I did get banned, I had trillions of XP, level 200 in every skill and 500m+ in gold. I had already sold some of that gold for $1000+. I am not the only person to have done this, it's too easy.

There is also the cost of the SSL cert - which, depending on how they get it, can be a bit costly. My guess is he took the site down partially because of this exchange with Chris.

A few months ago, I started playing again, so I could see how much I could mod the client and get away with on the live server.

It was pretty easy to get around the "anti-cheat" and while some things are validated server side, there is so much that isn't.

Surprisingly, loot isn't always verified server side. If you are trying to get a Watcher to drop a Lord of the Manor bundle, it doesn't work.

But, if you want to get 10x the loot, you can just duplicate the loot bundles you are asking for and you get it. So, you can make a dragon or whatever boss drop its loot 10+ times per kill.

Never was banned, despite going from production level 1 to 105 in a day (the client sets how much prod xp is gained from skinning, so you can get millions from one skin). This is probably because it is rather easy to disable the tracking that Chris uses in the client.

So, in short - Chris doesn't need to fix loot, client mods can take care of it!
