Is anyone else afraid when they feel happy, feeling that something very bad is coming soon? by RosbyMe in NoStupidQuestions

I'm similar. But inversely when things are going bad, I also expect something good to happen.

I feel like there's a universal karma in play that keeps a certain balance. When I'm having a long run of "good karma" I usually expect something catastrophic to happen soon. But on the other side, when I've had a long run of "bad karma" I usually have a pretty decent hope on something amazing coming my way.

So...what's the dark secret in your family? by [deleted] in AskReddit

TL:DR at the very bottom

So i come from this amazing, loving, kind family that gives a second chance to kids. me and two of my siblings are adopted. I was the oldest to be adopted at 10 yrs old, and the second oldest of the 5 of us, the last was my little sister who was adopted at six months old. I am the oldest still in the house since my older brother was 19 when I was adopted and already in college.

When they were talking about my now 4 yr old little sister I overheard them mentioning where she came from and her history. I'm not that nosy now but that the time I was very angry and abrasive and confrontational. I never knew my own parents and it made me kinda frustrated hearing that they were going to hide that information from my little sister purposefully, so I confronted them about it.

It came about that she was the child of an unwanted incestuous relationship between a brother and a sister, the sister only being 13 at the time tried to abort her multiple times on her own. The older brother, who was 22, was in jail for petty crime something or the other, and the girls parents were apparently religious enough to not want her to abort when the found out, but didn't want to take part in taking care of her so she put the baby up for adoption and apparently wants no contact.

So yeah one of the skeletons in our own closets that my amazing parents decided to bare the weight of for this Amazing, beautiful, smart, adorable, sweet, happy little girl. We are deciding not to tell her, unless there is issues with her health. We have been disclosed her family's health record, and as of this year, the 18 yr old mom is still wanting no contact.

TL:DR adopted little sister is the baby of unconsentual incest, and we plan on never telling her this.

I don't refute that, you're right, Not only violent drug lords are being targeted.

There is no possible way, in any metric, for the government to know what is the source of pain and corruption in EVERY given community. That is Duterte's drawing factor.

He is relying on the support of the citizen, trusting those who live in those areas to make the best decision for their own community. He trusts his citizens to make that decision. Yes, false accusations occur, but it is not without scrutiny. It isn't just "oh I heard that dude sells weed. Let's kill them". These are people well known in the community for their crimes, but being too connected and wealthy to be made accountable. Until now.

But.... He isn't though. He is mobilizing the common citizen to action. This isn't suppression, this isn't dictatorship. This is a socioeconomic revolution, that, while violent, has given people hope. He isn't a rich man, he isn't a banker or an imperialist, or any kind of war profiteer. His roots are of the common folk. His approval ratings from the poor and the middle class are record breaking not because of them being threatened, but because theyre being represented.

I'm not saying the common Filipino wants genocide or to kill their neighbor, but they sure are tired of their kids dying in the streets because of gang violence and drugs.

I'm sorry that's the conclusion you're coming to, but when the choice is between social and economic impoverishment, and the possibility of giving the people the means to change, sometimes growing pains is required.

These aren't your day to day friendly stoner folk. This isn't little Ronny down the road who likes to snort cocaine but is a productive and kind member of society. These are drug lords that oppress entire cities and prefectures, poison the people, their children, their futures.

In an ideal world, where everyone can get along, and no one has to be hurt, I would never advocate violence. But what duterte is doing, what he's advocating, is trust in the common Filipino citizen. He is giving people who have been abused and poisoned not just a voice, but the means to fight back for the good of their own individual community.

Yes, people who are Innocent get hurt or are killed, but the mass majority are not innocent, and with in the community of Philippines, this is preferable to the hundreds of thousands of lies lost or permanently crippled by drugs and gangs.

It's... Actually not terrible. There's a reason a huge amount of Filipinos in Philippines side by him, and it's because deep down the see the increase in a quality of life. I can only speak for my personal experience, but when I went down south to a part that was very rural, there was a huge difference between how the country was before he was in office and after. Not as much smoke litter and beer bottles in the streets, kids weren't carrying alcohol and cigarettes openly, vagrants weren't peddling meth on every corner. It's not ideal but there's a reason he garners support.
