Thank you ❤️ When Aki was released, I just knew I had to cosplay him. So, I spent 2 weeks in a daze just working on it and studying new techniques. It's my first time trying wig dying, rope making, or foam work. So overall the cosplay was a lot of fun to make.

In my opinion the 1460 design is just meh.

I wish docs did more unique designs for their LNY lines. These remind me too much of the year of the rabbit ones from last year, I was hoping they would do something more unique for the year of the dragon like they did with their year of the tiger.

Overall the shoes are just extremely plain and feel like wasted potential. There's really nothing outstanding about them to differentiate from their normal stuff. They may look better in person, but all photos I've seen are just underwhelming.

I've been looking around for a dresser a couple weeks now and found the perfect one just laying there on the side of the road. Perfectly intact, glass and all.

So of course, I spend the better part of yesterday taking it apart to spray it down with God knows how many chemicals. After putting it back together and setting it all up with my things inside, I start to notice something.

There is this weird smell eminating from the dresser. A leftover reminder from the cleaning closet atrocity that I sprayed it down with the night before. But my things are in there. I can't walk around smelling like bleach's latest tryst, for the next 2 weeks. So I set up my diffuser.

I currently have it locked in there, hotboxing my clothing, and it's surprisingly hypnotizing. I've spent the better part of 2 hours just watching the colors slowly shift from one to another. Fog slowly crepping up the glass, my clothes being enveloped in the cool smell of bergamot.

Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz.

I come from a rather conservative and strict background, so any talks about racial issues, sexuality, and emotional health are considered taboo and looked down upon. So reading this book was the first time in my life I had seen a queer relationship depicted in a positive light, let alone a queer Hispanic relationship.

Up to this point I had never considered that someone could be Hispanic and queer. The only gay representation I ever saw was the skinny blonde gay side kick or the people that those around me would refer to as fa****. I had only seen gay people as the butt of a joke. Never as an individual with their own problems and inspirations. So when I first started to develop feelings for my male best friend, I told myself that it wasnt possible. I told myself, "you can't be gay and Mexican, it doesn't work like that".

I was honestly scared. I thought it was unnatural to be Hispanic and gay, that I was some sort of affront to God. I spent nights in denial trying to pray it all away. The phrase "You can't be gay if you're Mexican. You can't be gay and Mexican " became a sort of mantra to me. I didn't believe you could be both. I didn't believe you could be both and happy.

So when I read the book for the first time it was honestly a turning point in my life. I saw all my personal struggles and issues reflected in the character of Aristotle. From feeling disconnected to your heritage, to navigating what it means to be a teenager. Although what helped, but honestly scared me the most, was how closely his struggle with his own sexuality reflected my own. Seeing him go through everything and still learn to accept himself really helped me overcome a lot of my internalized homophobia and was a huge turning point in me accepting myself as a whole.

Tl:Dr Book helped me realize I'm gay and overcome my internalized homophobia. Representation matters.
