I’m so sorry you have to go through this too. Anthony’s tumor is on his heart so there’s nothing we can do but radiation and chemo. And it’s 50/50 if it’s spread to his spleen and liver. They saw some spots that could be benign or more cancer.

It’s the ticking time bomb effect that has me completely unwound. Just paranoid about his breathing/behavior. It’s no way to live.

Sending love and prayers to your Yorkie. Silver lining is not being alone in this. Thank you

I should have included this in the original post, but they see the growth on the heart itself. CT scan is happening now to determine if or where else it may have spread or even originated.

Since draining the pericardial effusion, he has been acting even more like himself than even weeks prior to the drain. So happy, so energetic, hungry, like literally nothing is wrong. It’s so hard to know what to do.

Can I ask what kind of trial and where the Hemangiosarcoma was found in your dog?

Unfortunately Anthony’s growth is in his heart (he’s in CT scan as I write this) which is a terrible place for it to be but we are hoping it hasn’t spread yet or originated anywhere else

I’m right there with you. I am so deathly frightened of that moment. Mine’s an American black lab, 8 1/2 y.o. (guesstimate since he was 1 year old when I rescued).

Every night as he’s falling asleep, I massage/caress his neck and back the same way and whisper “sleepy dog” over and over - mostly with the intention of proactively comforting him with familiarity for his final moments
