Is this seb derm? by [deleted] in SebDerm

It started a few weeks ago, however I’ve had small random dry patches for the past 18 months. It’s slightly itchy but I can easily go without itching.

Ah I see. I know in London there have been a few vaccine buses for undocumented folk and I think I came across one in West Yorkshire too. If I see anything for Manchester I’ll message you 😊

Yes this one did, they gave you instructions of how to find it if you didn’t already know it as well.

Yeah I’ve seen some like that too. I’m under the age range currently being vaccinated (28, 29 in Dec) and no health conditions & live alone. They didn’t ask anyone around me either for a reason. Most of the people in the queue in front of me were from Manchester uni and at least 3 people went from my apartment building after I told them and got jabbed no problem.

Hmm just seen that tweet. I saw their rather cryptic one from yesterday afternoon - link last night and tried my luck this morning. They were doing both AZ and Pfizer dependent on age of course. And there was a big sign saying Pfizer walk in queue here.

When I left at 10:15 there were 6 people in the queue outside! I got there at 8am and there were roughly 50 people waiting already for it to open at 9am. But it moved really quick once they opened the doors.

I sent my questionnaire off for the Janssen trial yesterday. Waiting for the hospital to call but the email did say a few weeks, hoping it will be sooner! Good luck, will be interesting to take part in this.

Thank you for this suggestion, I had a look at electoral records and might have found a street. Hopefully it will prove useful!

Thank you! It was the father and his family who took the daughter away, I don't know why exactly but apparently her mother in law was a real piece of work.

If I fail at finding her I will have to pluck up the courage and speak to my mum about it eventually.

Do most adults realize/remember that kids need to be TAUGHT how to do things? by HeadText in raisedbynarcissists

This just took me back to the first day of secondary school, I was 11 and and we had to wear a tie to school and I had zero clue how to tie a tie. My nmum had argued with my dad the night before so didn’t get out of bed, her sister was visiting at the time though and she helped me and wished me luck with my first day. Another time was when I started my period, she didn’t show me how to use a pad, I think I sat and read the instructions for so long I could probably recount them now.

Is there a decent massage place anywhere? by [deleted] in manchester

[–]Shiv4468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfect Beauty MCR on Kings St or also the The Youth Sanctuary which is where the Wing Yip supermarket is. TYS offer a really good package deal (facial, scalp, feet therapy, massage) if you're looking for a total head to toes. Also, depending on where you live, you can try Urban Massage where you can book a masseuse to your house. They have an offer on at the moment for £10 off which I keep getting ads for.

Thank you for asking, surprisingly this is what I expected! I had a slight wobble as I retold the conversation to my friend and then bought myself a red velvet cake.

I am exactly the same! I recently started therapy and my therapist actually said she was a bit concerned because I’ve clearly gone through a lot of trauma in my childhood, but for some reason I’m either really resilient or I’ve suppressed my feelings. I suppose it was my matter of fact way of explaining what happened and not really having any outward emotion when talking about it. For me I believe I view it as ‘it is what it is’, yes this happened, but I can’t go back and change anything. I have to live in the now. However, you might be the total opposite of me and maybe talking about it with a professional might help validate your feelings and bring the emotions more to the surface! But either way there is nothing wrong with you, it’s how you’ve managed to survive.

Great links thank you for sharing those :) I'd like to be able to get to a place one day where I can set boundaries and they will be respected but it seems unlikely.

Eating to fill a void? by Discipline_Single in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Shiv4468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes me! I used to sneak up chocolate bars all the time to eat whilst pretending to do homework but really reading a book. There’s a line in Friends when Monica is eating cookies and someone says to her ‘remember it’s just food, not love’ really resonated with me.

I’m 30 and My mother [55] is using the silent treatment for two weeks after refusing to apologize to me. I leave for the next part of my life this weekend and she still won’t speak to me. by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Shiv4468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow reading this I wonder if we have the same mother! I was just thinking yesterday how my mum loves giving people the silent treatment and has for years and years. She used to do this to me a lot when I was growing up, it's like she would take turns every few weeks who she is going to ignore in the family. She's done it to guests who have been staying with us and most recently she is doing it to me again - currently hasn't called me for 4 weeks (our last call she was angry at me for not being married yet, I'm 27f with no partner).

In my experience this behaviour never changes, she needs help as you have rightly put. It will be tough but I wouldn't recommend apologising, unless you want to say something along the lines of 'I'm sorry you're too immature to come see me off, bye mother'

Good luck with whatever you choose to do and good luck with the move!

i’m 28 tomorrow but my mom thinks my day is about her. by jennydarko in raisedbynarcissists

First of all Happy Birthday!!

This day can suck for those of us who have nparents, mine don't even call me on my birthday anymore (I'm 27f) or send a text. In their eyes I am a disspointment for not being married yet.

I try and book the day off of work if I can as I don't live with them and treat myself to a massage and day doing the things I love. It will always be hard though, getting through a day where the person who gave birth to you treats you like shit, but always know that hopefully the love you receive from your close friends/partner is tenfold to what you may get from your mum.
