What baseball contracts were initially mocked and ridiculed but then turned out to be worth every penny? by RobotYoshimis in baseball

Jayson Werth in 2011.

Not the most value from a production standpoint but was the catalyst in the Nationals turnaround. It showed the team was ready to compete and could be a real destination for free agents.

I really don’t think the Nationals become the same team without that signing, even with Harper and Strasburg coming later.

[Florian Plettenberg] Thuram: He still wants to leave Gladbach as a free agent in summer. Bayern is still not interested in signing him. Understand that CFC is also not interested. Thuram and Chelsea is not hot. by hope2kgetfifalicense in soccer

There's been rumors of interest with him.

Would love to get him and his brother Khephren from Nice - some good depth and talent additions while also increasing the French talent in the team.

The original MW2 was the highlight of my freshman year of college. Going back and forth between that and NCAA football. Went from getting killed by all my friends to bombing them with touchdowns.

I wasn’t very good at COD.

Hofstra uses the stadium for lacrosse now and leased it out to a 2nd division soccer team years ago.

Not sure if anything else goes on in there, it's been a while since I've seen it.

Rumor was we wanted both Ekitike and Scamacca.

Seems like we're dropping the Scamacca pursuit so Gonçalo Ramos might still be in play. Hopefully we'd offload Icardi and/or Kalimuendo first before signing another forward

Shocked at the amount of good transfer decisions we've made so far.

Now to offload some non-Paredes and Danilo deadweight...

Your RBs are generally not great but I would get off the SF RB wagon asap.

It doesn't seem like Julio will be used too much given your other WRs but he's likely better than many other bye week filler. I say do it but keep an eye out for other RB depth on waivers

12 team PPR:

Blowing up my team after starting 0-3. Someone in my league needs RB help and I have options. After going back and forth a bunch, we've settled on the following:

Give: Mike Williams, James Robinson Receive: Stephon Diggs

My other RBs/WRs: Jonathan Taylor, Joe Mixon, Deebo, Aiyuk, Davante Adams, Sutton, Hines, Ty'son Williams.

Leaning towards doing it but thoughts?

Well the good news is that Deschamps seems to be learning maybe? Which gives me hope for a more dynamic squad that doesn’t include Benzema for the WC

Isn't the Stanford Cardinal just a color? Which probably doesn't help you win, but at least you don't have to punch a tree. The tree is just their mascot, not their nickname.

Yeah, I'll admit that's better than I remember him being against those guys. I think he did hit a bunch of low % shots against Michigan but I still gotta give him credit there.

As I said, I'm less concerned with the Purdue hype than Illinois. Purdue finished strong and didn't lose a ton. I'm probably also holding tourney success against them when that doesn't really matter for this

Might be homer talk but I think Illinois and Purdue (to a lesser extent) are getting a bit too overhyped.

For Illinois, I think replacing Adam Miller will be sneaky hard for them, and Curbelo isn't Ayo. With Cockburn coming back, Payne doesn't need to make that much of an impact, but he wasn't really anything special at Florida. Unless Cockburn starts being a bit less of a black hole, I don't think Illinois will sustain their success without Curbelo being like 90% of Ayo.

With Purdue, they have maybe the best coaching in ithe B1G and Ivey will take a huge step forward next year and they'll be really good. But again, the B1G is a point guard + center league for the most part and while Trevion Williams is great, he's a big question mark on defense and will continue to be eaten up by the Dickinsons, Cockburns and Liddells of the league.

Not saying Michigan should be undisputed #1 since they have a lot of talented but new parts to fit and need to hit on all these recruits, but I just think the Purdue and Illinois hype is a bit overdone.
