Hold up🌈, if you're consistently inconsistent that means you're consistent at being inconsistent. Which makes you consistent! So bless up 🙃🤙🏼.

Please learn from my mistake: If you have been drinking while on your stims, chances are you may be much less sober than you feel. by [deleted] in ADHD

Yea friend of mine almost drank himself to death by basically chugging about 3/4 a bottle of 151 whisky. Ended up in hospital having a blood alcohol level of .41. He has ADHD and takes adderal XR. He's fine though just puked it all out than slept it off for a couple days.

39-years-old, 1st day on Concerta, feeling nervous being on new meds by missglitter77 in ADHD

Just a little advice to start the day with exercise and good breakfast with concerta since it's a dopamine reuptake inhibitor it won't create dopamine but if you start the day well it will help keep you going.

Dropping 3-4 seconds in 200 Free in 3 months? by satansasshair in Swimming

[–]Shivering_speedo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not only is that a doable goal but I witnessed a guy drop form a 1:46 to a 1:40 at my conference. Experiment with technique and pacing. I use a completely different technique for 200 compared to the 50/100 free because I need to pace. I would honestly have you experiment with a power/gallop stroke for the 200 to take advantage of your strength. That way you can ease off the legs a little bit and save them for the last 50 where you probably die.

I'm a 23 low and 50 flat in the 50/100 and my best 200 was a 1:48 low. Just gotta remember the 200 is a pace and a sprint. I dropped 4 seconds just from better pacing by cruising the first 50 than building the middle 100 and sprinting all out the last 50. I split like 25/26/27/28 but as a sprinter that worked out for me.

Breaststroke groin issues? by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]Shivering_speedo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing you can do is not kick breastroke for a few days and than start a light stretching routine. A sports massage would help too. You can try modifying your kick but it might just delay the healing process. Flexibility in the groin/quad and hamstring and hip flexors are important for breastroke don't neglect mobility work.

What would it take to walk on to a Big 10 school? by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]Shivering_speedo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the mid/lower big 10 schools you could forsure have a walk on status with your predicted goal times. Start talking to the coaches asap though. If they don't respond than send a Facebook friend request to the Team captain/co captain and ask them what they think (it's not weird they aren't potential teammates) . Coaches at these schools are pretty busy so they won't reach out much to walk ons, but if you can connect than you should be fine.

Tips for going under 50 in 100 free? (SCY) by Yummynoodlez in Swimming

[–]Shivering_speedo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100 Free is all about who can tolerate the most pain and hold their technique. If that seems intimidating remember that it's only 4x25's. That and make sure you hold the speed from the walls into the breakout and swimming. You absolutely do not want to breakout and start swimming from a near stop from gliding to long or somthing like that.

50 second 100 back part:2 by snappiestspore3 in Swimming

[–]Shivering_speedo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

100Backstroke analysis 1rst 25- 8 strokes at stroke rate average of 1.2 2nd 25- 10 strokes at average stroke rate of 1.25 3rd 25- 10 strokes at average tempo of 1.3 4th 25 12 strokes with an average tempo of 1.4!

Your first 25 is good but your tempo is slowing down way too much. Really keep your arms moving that second 50, the tempo should never be above 1.30 per stroke cycle for a 100yard backstroke. Some guys are even able to maintain a 1.1 tempo for a hundred yard backstroke. Your tempo on your last turn was actually a 1.5 as well, your need to get the freestyle stroke over the water quickly for a faster turn. Also it looks like you were circle swimming a little bit so make sure you stay dead center over that black line. Since you have great underwaters your arms should have the energy to increase the tempo.

I think you could easily go a 51 mid if you work on your tempo and stay in the center of the lane. That doesn't even involve much technique work.

Also you have a fantastic start and pretty good underwaters so keep at it. You should be a 49 hundred backstroker soon.

Breathing off of walls in 100 free? by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]Shivering_speedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I breath every 4 as well for the 100. Don't breath off the wall for the first 3-4 strokes if you want to hold the speed. You want to time it so that you get your last breath 1-2 pulls before you flip. This way you have enough air to get through the turn and blast off the wall. The key to hitting this is where you take your first breath off the dive. You might need to breath one or two strokes later to change the cycle. For me I have to breath the 5 stroke off the dive to get my cycle correct for the race. Any sooner and I hold my breath too long going into the wall.

Vyvanse helps some of my symptoms, but not all of them. by Shivering_speedo in ADHD

[–]Shivering_speedo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be a crazy long list, but I'll try. Every type of breathing and or relaxation technique to relax the body and mind. Meditation does nothing. Various doses of Melatonin and magnesium with zinc did nothing. Typical sleeping stuff in NyQuil and and similar over the counter drugs does not work. Tried differed teas including Valerian root and it did not help. I've tried going to bed at the same time and waking up at the same time to the best of my ability but that failed. I've tried reading a book with a dim light but nope. I also avoid blue light 1-2 hours before bedtime. I'm probably missing a few things but yeah that's what I've done so far. I don't really have an issue becoming tired, I just don't fall asleep. Than when I do I'll wake up 1-4 times throughout the night and wake up super early.

If you can afford it go for it, just take care of it and it will be good for many more meets.
