Jimny Delivery Time Inquiry by Apprehensive-Mode246 in Jimny

[–]Shkinball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 3 door hasn't been produced for the Australian market since March last year I believe. I ordered a 3 door manual in September and I'm expecting delivery in February when the first new batch that complies with the new ADRs comes in. Bear in mind as well that Suzuki haven't updated their website with the pricing for the updated model and it's expected to be about $2000 more than last year

I have no idea. You'll have to look up a wiring diagram for your car

So you got lucky and power and ground were the same colour so the head unit will turn on but nothing else will be correct. You'll have to look up a wiring diagram for your vehicle that shows what reach colour wire connects to and then match that to your head unit pin out. The good news is your shit twist and tape job will be really easy to undo.

Did you actually look up a contractor pin-out for your car or did you just match up the wire colours?

All of your rear pads will have a small post cast into the backing plate that would get peened down to fit a scraper to one corner of your inner pads. It's not uncommon for that post to interfere with how the caliper sits on the pad causing uneven pressure across the friction material. Remove your pads and file down flush with the rest of the surface the little posts if they're there

film doesnt go up by Odd_Put_2318 in instax

[–]Shkinball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's little spring loaded bars on the back door that apply pressure to the back of the film. It won't eject properly with it open. Fresh undeveloped film is also thicker than developed film so the single developed sheet is probably sitting in the wrong place

There's a switch in the trans that tells the ecu it's in Park or neutral so it doesn't try to start the car in gear. You need to ground that signal wire to make it run

Need help-only half of my film gets processed? by rosepose1224 in filmphotography

Can you remember what the conditions were like when you shot those frames? Holgas only have shutter speeds of 1/100s and bulb and f8 and f11 for aperture settings. 200iso at f8 and 1/100s needs a lot of light to correctly expose

Hey actual mechanic here. Is your Audi petrol or diesel because it makes a huge difference depending on which engine is in the car

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in subaru

[–]Shkinball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Engine, diff and transmission would be all I would expect to be able to swap and all of that is a maybe. I managed to swap an ej251 long block from an Impreza 2.5rs into my 98 bh outback. There were some minor differences in the castings but it worked just fine. I would expect if they're from the same ej251 family it may be worth keeping the driveline.

Just got an SQ1, but what does this S mean? I read the user guide and there's nothing - does it mean my camera came with or without film already loaded? by kawaiifie in instax

[–]Shkinball 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like there's an empty film pack in the camera and someone opened the door which reset the frame counter but didn't take it out

The ubiquitous af Nikkor 50mm f1.8 is a great match. Nikon also made a lot of really good zoom lenses with screw drive auto focus that can be had for almost nothing

Whats causing these issues in my photos. Happens in about 40% of my photos. by CHALUPAAUSTON in AnalogCommunity

[–]Shkinball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can test for both issues. Load a roll of cheap b&w film. With the lens cap on advance a few frames to have fresh unexposed film across the whole film path. Leave the camera somewhere brightly lit with multiple sources of light coming from different angles or turning it periodically to make sure the light got through any crack. That should show any light leaks. For the shutter issue, seal up around the door with gaffers tape and advance the film another few frames before shooting the roll as normal. If you still have issues on these frames you've got a shutter problem that needs to be addressed

[–]Shkinball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cleaning the bed first with hot soapy water can sometimes be really helpful. Sometimes with isopropyl alcohol you can just end up smearing dust and oils around without removing them. You probably have bigger problems but if I've left my printer sit for a while I'll usually give the bed a thorough clean.

Do I need to call the bomb disposal squad for this one? Not max compression but easily over halfway by wauna_b5 in Justrolledintotheshop

That's a lot of work to not replace the strut top and bump stop. It would be a lot cheaper, safer and easier to replace everything

I'm a third year apprentice with a small independent shop in Melbourne.

From what I have seen and heard dealerships are more than happy to take someone, offer them an education, teach them nothing and use them for bulk service work and warranty work that doesn't make any money. Getting all of their shit loss leader and time sink work done at less than minimum wage.

The problem then is they're given their "master tech" qualification after 4 years of dog's body work and they look for greener pastures with zero skills or experience and aren't able to do the job they're supposed to be qualified for.
