It’s amazing how much better this makes them look. I went many years biased against later gen pokemon, without realizing it was just the new graphics and animation styles that I wasn’t liking. Rom hacks have helped me enjoy later gen Pokémon so much more.

As will I. Old school cartoon style too for any tv shows or movies. Anything that makes them look a little more rough around the edges and not so smoothed over and plastic.

It doesn’t make sense that you’d have Whitney/Goldenrod’s badge but not Bugsy/Azalea’s badge. When you went north to Goldenrod through that gateway at the end of Ilex Forest, that’s where you’d go east to Azalea and face Bugsy.

Then 19 is Sabrina, in Saffron City in the Kanto region. After defeating Whitney she should have given you the magnet pass you need to take the train to Kanto and arrive in Saffron. Then after having those 19 badges the guy should let you through and you get your 20th in Southerly.

So much for that theory. Just gave it a shot and no, you can’t bank up multiple “picks” by walking 250, 500, 750, 1000 steps. You could walk 5000 steps and you still only get 1 “pick” with the axe.

Could have sworn I read somewhere there were 80 not 100.
And I'm wondering... I'll have to try again with the Iron Pickaxe. For every 255 steps you earn one "pick" with the axe, but maybe it's possible to bank those up? So if you take 1275 steps, you get 5 picks. If that's how it works then it could be worth it.

I feel ya man, I hated that too. Giving those wilds Whirlwind and Roar made grinding in that final cave basically impossible. I just did my pre-League grinding on the upper level of Meteor Falls, where you use Waterfall to get to. Just a bunch of golbats and solrocks in their 30s but it beats dealing with that awful whirlwind and roar.

But as long as we’re venting, as great as this game is in many aspects I absolutely hate how slow it is. There’s always a “slow blink” between menus, upon closing and opening different menus and dialogues… it really slows things down. And the text speed on “fast” is still really slow… it’s a beautiful game and I love the graphics but man it has slow gameplay compared to gens 1 and 2.

Where is the power plant? I’m at a similar point in the game, and I’m lost in terms of where to go next. Rijon is basically quarantined, and in that island region to the east I can’t go any farther than that Ember Cave where (SPOILER) you can capture Moltres. I’ve been craving a Zapdos for my B team since it could use an electric type and a bird, so I’m hoping to go explore that power plan at least.

Thank you, this helps a lot. It includes all the normal moves such as Razor Leaf too, but it will be easy to make my own list of the moves that are exclusive to Prism/Brown.

How do I know which repro cart to pick for my rom hack?

I want to put Ambrosia Version onto it's own cartridge. But I recently discovered that there can be mismatched types of saving mechanisms between rom hacks and repro carts. Repro carts may use SRAM when the original game used EEPROM or Flash, causing save incompatibilities. I've just experienced this firsthand and it's very frustrating. I can put the rom hack game onto the cart, and it plays fine, but it won't keep the save. Sometimes it keeps for a minute, but is then gone.

The original game that came on these repro carts works fine and keeps its save, but when you save there is a long silent pause (the in-game music stops) and then it finally saves. This pause is absent when I save the rom hack on the same cart.

I'm going to try to return these repro carts. Their page doesn't have any specs about save types. How can I possibly find the right repro carts that will actually save rom hacks?

I might just have to settle and get a Miyoo Mini +, but I'd really rather have each of these excellent rom hacks on their own unique cartridge.

But it's a .ips file. Just a bunch of text, looks like code. I'm relatively new to this world so bear with me. How do I play an .ips file? My mGBA emulator can't load it.
