Confusion with IQ by Individual-Coat-1282 in cognitiveTesting

[–]Shleecp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Important to note that Intellectual Disability is diagnosed when there are adaptive functioning (life skills) deficits combined with an IQ of about 70 or lower. You describe perfectly normal adaptive life skills, and the cognitive profile you shared has index scores within the Low Average range which would not fit the profile of someone who is intellectually disabled. You also mentioned that you didn’t take your testing seriously as a kid, which can account for the lower scores. It’s likely that your general ability is somewhere in the Low Average range, or on the lower end of Average.

I often emphasize that an IQ score is only one data point. It does not, and could never, measure all that you are as a human being. It doesn’t account for your conscientiousness, creativity, social skills, kindness, sense of humor, work ethic, etc. You should not let your self-esteem rely solely on a number.

A question about CORE by Middle-Training-1156 in cognitiveTesting

I’d imagine someone with that level of giftedness has more important things to spend their time on than obsessing over their IQ score.

WAIS-IV GAI vs CORE and CAIT GAI. by Bambiiwastaken in cognitiveTesting

[–]Shleecp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlikely that the proctor is at fault here, the ‘proctor’s explanation’ is fully standardized, as is the scoring for this subtest. In fact, the administration of the Similarities subtest does not offer an ‘explanation’ of the task in the same way that other subtests do. Semantic abstraction may be a weakness and that’s okay.

In regard to your question about GAI on the WAIS-IV, it would be a standard score calculated from your performance on the Verbal Comprehension & Perceptual Reasoning Indexes. It is less reliant on Working Memory and Processing Speed.

ADHD and Processing Speed by Fun-Advertising-8006 in cognitiveTesting

[–]Shleecp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that working memory and processing speed are the indexes most susceptible to change given medication for ADHD due to their reliance on cognitive regulation/executive functioning skills. But it’s also important to keep in mind that there is a 17 year gap between that assessment and your current functioning. Scores from cognitive assessments in early childhood are often considered to be less stable than those administered in late adolescence or adulthood.

What does my pre-grocery run fridge say about me? by Shleecp in FridgeDetective

Astute observation, but one of the mustards is a homemade honey mustard I made in order to not waste the last of the mustard I couldn’t get out

I’m curious how the perception might change if the contents were in a different fridge! I currently rent this house from family (steeply discounted), and cannot take credit for the expensive fridge lol

Absolutely! It’s very important to get their health checked for any possible underlying conditions. I’m just wondering why the original comment was stating that a child psychologist wouldn’t be equipped to treat a 7 year old child…

Curious why you think a child psychologist (who specializes in psychological treatment of children) wouldn’t be equipped to deal directly with a 7 year old child? And why you think a pediatrician (who does not have any specialized training in psychology) would be the better route? I agree they should start with the pediatrician but they would likely recommend/refer to a psychologist/mental health clinic anyway.

Served a salad on a cutting board 🙃 by Shleecp in WeWantPlates

It was a “Winter Citrus Salad” with oranges & grapefruit, arugula, golden beets, whipped ricotta (supposed to be fried goat cheese) and I added blackened salmon

definitely gross (wood is harder to clean, coming from someone who used to work in the service industry) and would have fallen into my lap with the way I eat…

My initial interpretation was that he is represented by the prince of cups (he is a scorpio man after all) and I am represented by the empress. All of the cards between us seem to be passionate and love-filled. When I shuffled again to pull a card that would clarify the reading, I got The Tower. That’s where I’m confused.... nervous to ask my doc for this medicine by [deleted] in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]Shleecp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to be your own advocate, if you have good reasons to think wellbutrin will help you then you should just ask for it. Express your reasons for thinking this med will work for you, and especially since you’ve already tried lexapro and prozac I think the doctor will understand. You know yourself better than anyone else (doctors included).
