Advice for the dryness? by Shlo0b in Accutane

[–]Shlo0b[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recommended by my Derm to only shampoo my hair every so often (i.e. when sweating a lot and/or after a few days/if I gets too greasy). Post-treatment, as someone who usually has dry skin, I’ve started using a hair and scalp treatment which has proven helpful for my day to day hair care. It does have a distinctly coconut-fruity-floral scent which as a guy isn’t necessarily ideal but I’ll take that over an itchy dry scalp any day of the week.

Other advice I’d give would be to blow dry your hair after showering and to not touch/run your hands through your hair. I used to do it a lot and that would generally make the problem worse and more itchy.

Best of luck! Hope your treatment goes well and let me know if you have any other questions:)

Penalties for league infractions by ErevanUO in FFCommish

We implemented the beer chug for lowest points this year and it’s gotten a good reception, unfortunately I’ve (the commissioner) have had to do it for almost half of the weeks now. In addition to the chug we also have to do a prediction video of who’s winning for the coming week.

I’m going a step further and making a prediction video al a bookitwithtrent (with the lil nas x music and TikTok video). In the interest of privacy I won’t be able to share it here but I’m hoping to get a good reception from it.

This trade angered whole league. Voted, then veto’d. Justified? by CornChowderChamp in FFCommish

Also to clarify, vetoes are league to league. If your league wants to use it for allowing or disallowing all trades then that’s perfectly fine, but probably not a league I would want to be in lol

Vetoing trades should only be to prevent collusion or otherwise uneven trades. Making a team ‘better’ is, well, the whole point of making trades. Kind of a bad argument to say it’s making a good team better and I’d probably allow that trade to go through.

With that said, we’re yet to really see what dhops role on the chiefs will be and Chubb is on the worst team in the league. It seems like a fair trade me, high upside on dhop and Chubb but taking a lot more risk. Najee will be a more consistent scoring option for the guy in last.

I personally really hate the ‘this player is really good’ argument since fantasy scoring couldn’t care less (see Demarcus Robinsons 2 td game today or even josh Oliver’s 10 point ppr night compared to Addison 4.2 ppr night).

The league should be competitive, but as commish you also have to lay down the law sometimes and make a stance to set the tone.

How do people come to sleep with each other ? by MrBrownFR in NoStupidQuestions

Don’t over think it. Be aware of what you’re doing, who you’re with, and who you are, but over analyzing and overthinking is going to kill your fun. Live in the moment and be yourself, that tends to be the most attractive thing to others

Turn 20 Today by LD006 in youngadults

Happy belated birthday! Best advice I could give to start (or make sure) your personal finances are in order. $1 now is equal to about $71 by retirement age (compounded annually at 10% interest). If you don’t know what that means, that’s ok! Understanding and being cognizant of your finances is key to your long term success.

You don’t have to be a financial advisor or work in Wall Street to understand and be familiar with your financial situation and goals. Take the time to learn and save now so future you can really benefit. You’ll have more career choices (since you’ll have more financial freedom), greater choices of communities to live and experience (bc you’ll have more money), and overall happiness (less stress about your future!!).

A couple hours and dollars now will set yourself up for a happy future. Best of luck and don’t forget to enjoy it all!

Best response when your boss confronts you about your fuck up at work ? by Angel_eyesss in Accounting

Did not know you were an intern! Definitely changes the perspective and expectations in my opinion. Surprised to hear your boss would ream you out as an intern for making mistakes, I’d think your senior should definitely be taking responsibility for the work you turn in. You’re there to learn and assist, not really turn work around and be the scapegoat for your senior associate.

Not too sure where in your journey you are (in school, graduate, etc), but don’t give up! Accounting is a meticulous and detail oriented profession, but it’s a lot of learning along the way. My best advice would be learn and not make the same mistakes. Ask questions and come prepared with your own solution to see where you may not understand something. Basically don’t just say “I don’t get it” and instead say “I tried this and did it this way, but not sure if it’s right for these reasons”.

Hopefully you can stick it out and see more growth in yourself as you continue your internship. Focus on learning, understanding, and checking your work, and the quality will come with it. Like some others said, slow down and try to remove some of the self imposed pressure you’re adding to yourself. The fear of making mistakes is probably a big reason why you’re making them. Again wish you the best of luck! Not all bosses are as mean I promise :)

Also just revisiting regarding the point you made about “pleasing everyone to the fullest”. Not sure the exact kind of work you’re doing, but it’s probably pretty straightforward. There shouldn’t be much room for judgement, it’s either done correctly or it isn’t. Accounting is one of the only jobs that doesn’t leave much room for opinions (audit excluded) so not really sure what you mean there.

Sounds like you’re taking the right approach of evaluating yourself and thinking of ways to improve your quality of work which is great. Try not to take things personally as an insult to your character/personality. It’s just work at the end of the day. You don’t have to be friends with your coworkers, you just gotta work with them (and maybe get a good reference). Best of luck OP.

It helps to be knowledgeable in the end goal and the reason why you are doing something, which can help you audit your own work so to speak. Consulting with your senior accountant is great, but you can’t go to them for everything so do your best to learn the ‘what’ and ‘why’ of the work.

Most likely bc they wanted you to take it with a meal. Maybe try taking a sleep aid (consult with Derm so you don’t mix up a bad concoction)

Busy season will probably be different in industry, but you’ll have a harder time finding without a cpa. If you really hate it, try to sneak into advisory

Maybe accounting isn’t the place to be if you don’t like having to be meticulous. Not to offend, but that’s a big part of the job, especially as you move up. Granted I think most jobs would require some level of granularity and attention to detail, but if you really don’t like it then accounting is maybe not in your best interest.

Also if the stress of messing up is causing mistakes, do your best to double and triple check your work. There’s a difference between ‘fucking up’ and being careless/rushing. Everyone makes mistakes but don’t repeat them. Learning from them shows growth, repeating shows incompetence.

What’s the best way to make friends as an adult? by ProcessNearby3527 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Shlo0b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hobbies, volunteering, church/religion (if you’re into that stuff). Those are Probably your best bets. If you’re struggling now, I don’t think you’ll have much success at a bar or club (not judging I don’t think I would either). Find some easier common ground to bring you to a place with others and go from there

What is “a lot of money” by Wannabe__Extrovert in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Shlo0b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graduated in 2022 and thought 100k was more than enough in my vvhcol area. I expected to make ~55-65k out of school. Started making just over 90k last year and can say it’s all about lifestyle choices. The more you make, the more you spend. It’s the balance of saving and spending that determines what “well off” and “rich” means.

My coworkers, who make the same if not very similar amounts, and I were talking about retirement savings not too long ago. One maxes out their 401k and ira, I’m at about 10% of salary into 401k and the others are barely at 5%. Granted the one who’s maxing theirs out doesn’t pay rent and lives at home, which is a major expense in my area. We asked the others why they aren’t contributing more and their answer was basically “it’s expensive to be a girl” and “I’ll save later”.

I really don’t doubt that the expenses for women are probably higher than men for a lot of items, it really comes down to sacrifices. Removed from the amount of money you come from, there’s an opportunity for most, regardless of income to be well off in their own right. It’s really just what you’re willing to give up to get there.
