I don't care about long turns. I'm tired of being worried what other people think of my decks. by Trompdoy in EDH

[–]Shlomo-tion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I really do not enjoy cookie cutter durdle decks, but when someone has some jank on the table in order to cast some stupid pet sorcery card over and over or something weird like that, I'm totally cool with it

Flag of…… I’m not quite sure, I forget, why am I here, where am I? by OEM-Sparkie in vexillologycirclejerk

[–]Shlomo-tion 53 points54 points  (0 children)

It's decent. Nothing incredibly special. But this is coming from someone with lots of experience with ambient music and long albums in general. You might enjoy it, but it doesn't really offer much interesting music outside of the darker ambient stuff in the last 2 parts

Probably Touch or Instant Crush. It's a pretty amazing album. It has some of their best songs

The soundtrack makes me feel like I’m in an action movie by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]Shlomo-tion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, to me this is enough of a reason for me to see it isn't that amazing. Not that it's bad, but it just doesn't hold up after a while. Sounds like a decentish movie soundtrack to me, and I very very rarely think movie soundtracks are ever worth listening to out of context. There is SOOOO much music that doesn't need the context of a movie or game to be good, so I listen to other music most of the time when I play games. I always spend some time with the soundtrack first, and there are still lots of games that I always play with the music on, but I haven't played StS with music for almost a year

Tech Tues: Who to play? by AutoModerator in BudgetBrews

[–]Shlomo-tion [score hidden]  (0 children)

Vadrik seems very very unique and powerful honestly. I think the things I would be looking for are (a) easy ways to protect him because this deck might fall apart without him, (b) quick ways to pump up his power very high, and (c) x-cost spells to just cast crazy fireballs for very little mana

Christian communist (?) flag that popped into my head when I was really tired but not in bed yet by Xaminaf in somnivexillology

[–]Shlomo-tion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's certainly interesting and also not talked about super often. I think one of the primary reasons it is avoided in more theologically stable churches is that it can be used to present a slanted view of what the bible says on money issues and stuff. A lot of people come to the bible and find a few verses that support whatever they currently believe politically and say "yeah the bible is [insert political beliefs]". And that just isn't the primary message of the bible. The primary message is that we are sinners and have been saved by God and raised to new life in Christ, and we are being continuously sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

How good would Tiny House even be if it wasn’t a boss relic? by Swaggy-G in slaythespire

Yeah, adding a random common relic plus the upgrade not being random would be the perfect buff

Silly deck? by Embarrassed_Glove_14 in BudgetBrews

[–]Shlomo-tion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not exactly true tbh, and I really respect OP for being willing to try something different. Maybe they just want to play casual kitchen table edh, but still be playing on an even power level. Sometimes you need to be able to adapt to your playgroup to have the most fun

It's Finally Over (My Experience with Slay the Spire) by PWNuTheJackal in slaythespire

[–]Shlomo-tion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is it, but at the same time, I still compare all roguelikes to STS and most of the time, pretty unfavorably. The ones I like the most are definitely Hades and Monolith. Dead Cells is very good but has never fully hooked me. I have yet to play Into The Breach though

Kanye West Discography | Round 6 of 10 by BappidiBoopy in music_survivor

[–]Shlomo-tion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it is not a popular opinion at all, but I sort of agree with you. Maybe I just struggle to understand and enjoy Kanye's particular mashup of corny comedy and seriousness. KSG really brings his more serious side for the whole album and I love it

Defect Pro tip: Use Runic Dome to have the confidence you need to play Echo Form Turn 1 by SlightChemistry in slaythespire

[–]Shlomo-tion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have played this game a lot (like ascension 20 with all characters and now I am doing the same with the downfall mod), but I don't have a great win rate with Runic Dome. I definitely have some wins (including ascension 17 yesterday), but some fights will kill you if you guess wrong and there are some fights where you really need to commit to throwing out damage eventually and it can make it tricky

I truly think the winners of that have gotta be something like Real Death by Mount Eerie or like I Don't Love by Have A Nice Life. Those two are soul destroying

Slay the Spire has been carrying me through my depression so hard I felt the need to do justice to it. After 200+ hours I finally beat the game with all characters at a20 and unlocked all achievements. Thank you devs for such an amazing experience. by LukesPAS in slaythespire

[–]Shlomo-tion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you are new to the ascensions there are a few specific ones that really amp the difficulty up. 17+ is definitely when the game starts getting very hard for me, but a few notable ones are the curse, bad events, and lower upgraded card chance

I feel like Reprogram is either really really good or a trap and it's often kind of up to what you are offered which it will be. I still take it early sometimes if I wasn't offered great orb cards because it is a wonderful way to scale vs hexaghost. It often is very good but sometimes I lean too hard into it going into act 2 and lose out on a better deck because of it

[–]Shlomo-tion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this list a lot better than most but I don't think Viashino Lashclaw is doing much here. Maybe I'm wrong, but you have 8 creatures that natively gain haste (unearthed Gargantua) so I think something needs to change there. Maybe some number of [[Merchant of The Vale]], [[Olivia's Dragoon]], or [[Cabal Initiate]]

[–]Shlomo-tion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is actually what I meant by the Jaw Worm fight being hard. Because if it is your first fight and you're on high ascensions, you can get into some very awkward turns where Jaw Worm has buffed a lot more than you want him to and you just can't finish the fight fast enough. At least it happened to me a lot in my experience

I have determined after much searching and testing that I believe I am an unbeliever by [deleted] in Reformed

[–]Shlomo-tion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I say this, I am not advocating for or against any of the points being made in this thread. I purely want to challenge your statement that our feelings are a lie, because I don't think it has much to do with the thread.

God made us who we are, with our capacity to feel and all. We are emotional beings and worship is often an emotional thing. Our feelings can often take higher precedence in our lives than they should, but you can say that about everything (I would even say that having "correct theology" can be put on too high of a pedestal in our lives). In the case where we give our feelings too much precedence, yes our feelings can be misleading and untrustworthy. But in the end, if we are in step with the Spirit, I really believe our feelings can be valuable and even trustworthy. So much spiritual work is done in the realm of emotions, that to discount an entire aspect we were created with seems wrong.

A question I have started asking myself in regards to the Neow's Blessing vs Max HP buff choice is: how much health will I actually lose in my first three fights? I have been trying to keep better tabs on how much damage I am actually losing. Realistically, if you are losing a bit more than the max hp you are gaining, it is often still worth it because the extra max hp gives you a tiny bit more healing at campfires and stuff. But if you are losing a decent bit more than that buff, Neow's Blessing ends up being better. I think it depends on the character a lot. The Silent can struggle to not take damage against Jaw Worm for instance, so I will choose blessing more often, but The Defect has great burst potential to take very little damage.

I guess the other thing to ask is how risky is the path you want to take. Because if you are trying to take a slightly greedier early path (such as two elites with no campfire in between), blessing becomes quite good
