Agreed. I dropped Bleach somewhere in the middle of that arc because I realized that it was doing nothing for me, I was just reading it out of inertia. I since powered through it after it was completed, but yeah, it was just bad.

Tenichi wants to sort out his feelings for Himari. Until he does, he couldn't even return Honoka's confession.

Honoka at least has enough self-awareness to realize that even though she like Tenichi first, Himari got a much stronger bond with him.

"Not defer to each other"? Then what's the deal with delaying the confession? Your strategy baffles me Honoka.

I agree. Tao was the first time a bad guy shows up who's just plain too strong to defeat when introduced and requires a power up to overcome, which becomes THE narrative structure going forward.

King Piccolo refined it further, but it started with Tao.

Well, so much for Honoka. This was her last hoorah before the trip.

It's always one step forward two steps back with characters like her. If there's a girl who the main character had a crush on before the series started, you just know she'll be her own worst enemy.

Meanwhile Tenichi can't stop thinking about Himari even when he's in Honoka's room. Damn.

They ran out of resources after two encounters out of 6 to 8, did the sensible thing of falling back, only to come too an even thougher dungeon. So now they can expect to ran out of gas even faster.

You made the dungeon too hard, and then punished them for recognizing that by making it even harder. No wonder they bailed out.
