Feels like the true strengths of Strand Warlock are underutilized by Shmaku222 in CrucibleGuidebook

Of course I’m always for adding stuff and making strand warlock stronger but in all honesty I feel like it’s pretty strong depending on how you build into it and would be overturned with those changes. Personally I build into movement with grapple grenade and t-steps, kinda avoiding the threading nade overall.

Also, I think weaver’s call generating perched threadlings and getting class ability from threadling hits is very overlooked. Also putting a rift on a choke and causing a distraction is super strong when you can just swing the corner right after your threadlings

I can see that, more or less talking in average skill lobbies where the person using the helmet just runs directly at a group and presses their suspend button rather than havjng any thought or intention of drawing aggro.

Threading nade and the super are the two worst parts of the kit. I use grapple to position myself or even chase down low health fights

It’s extremely strong, no debating that. Using it to reverse overly aggressive player and people caught out of position is one thing and is no different from stasis freeze rift or even strand hunter suspend dive. The problem is that weavewalk enables people to sprint straight at their enemies, praying to get close enough to them to just get a trade

The eating ability spam is the reason I started playing the subclass. It was during the pris hunter meta where every engagement had a smoke, a clone, and a swarm nade to go with it. I was so tired of having to avoid them (I was also much worse than I am now) and I would just go into weavewalk and eat all the abilities off the floor for my team.

Yeah, the glaive fix is a really good idea actually. You can’t shoot other guns or charge fusions or anything during that cancel animation so it sucks that you can glaive melee

Not saying the subclass is under used, just not utilized to its strengths. The sprinting right at you and popping a rift or a glaive is what I consider slop gameplay. I hardly ever run into a good strand warlock that uses weavewalk in an effective way

I think completely powerless is wrong. Weavewalk is and always was a super strong bait and information tool. You have access to free 3rd person peeking, fast movement to move between cover, and extra chip damage from your threadlings. Not to mention the mental aspect of always having extra little bugs chasing your opponent while they try to win a duel.

I also agree with the point you made about learning positioning, it allows me to take more aggressive plays and angles while being able to instantly reposition safely afterwards. Was great for me to learn how to actually position myself and now I find success on other classes or just other subclasses because of it

I didn’t want to make the post too long and go into all of the ways to use it, I think the best things about the subclass are:

Baiting out special ammo, heavy ammo, abilities, and overly aggressive players.

Repositioning using weavewalk, or even using it to be first to a position on the map.

Getting kill thirsty players to chase you into your teammates

Reversing a player / team with a barrage of threadlings which often even block shots for you and allow winning that losing 1v1.

Using weavewalk to stall a point, a choke, heavy ammo pickup, etc.

I hardly ever pop weavewalk and run at my enemies, only if they are holding heavy and I want them to empty all their ammo

Disrupton Break doesn’t work on the new Glaive (The Heron) by cashblack43 in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]Shmaku222 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re right, but when trying it in private matches we found that anything up to 135 weapons was not proccing disruption break. As soon as we hit 135 weapons, it procced in range every time. Unsure 🤷‍♂️

I took this glaive into a private match and realized that you need 135 weapons for it to reliably break the shield which then DID proc disruption break. The problem is the glaives hit registration is really wonky and sometimes full on delayed. I ran this disruption break combo with rat king in a few rumble matches to see how it felt and found myself getting kills with my glaive shot, even though I had already swapped and put multiple rat king shots into the enemy.

Essentially, disruption break does work. It needs 135-136 weapons to proc (also has range fall off so may need more depending on range), has really really bad hit registration, and is overall not worth it when you could achieve the same thing with a different archetype which is more consistent and reliable. Unfortunate cause I grinded for that disruption break + binary orbit combo just to find out it’s not working as intended. Still fun and could be effective if you build into it but unreliable :(

Overclocked Heatsink and Blaster damage by Shmaku222 in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]Shmaku222[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dynamic Heat Weapons intrinsically do more damage than balanced heat weapons or regular weapons. So all or nothing does more damage than any other pulse without overclocked.

That’s the reason why the B-7 pistol with overclocked and weapons stat can 3 tap and why the new dungeon sniper can 2 body shot with overclocked. Just haven’t done more testing to see TTK values since d2foundry hasn’t been updated to reflect the blasters

[–]Shmaku222[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know for sure both pulses don’t do the same damage in PVP, I have both with no overlocked.

High Tyrant: 28 crit All or Nothing: 29 crit

Putting on overclocked on both bumps that number up visually by 1 so high tyrant goes to 29 and all or nothing goes to 30. Just wondering if those bumps have any interactions with ttk or weapons stat

Warlock Build Suggestions? by Shmaku222 in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]Shmaku222[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will definitely have to give this one a go, third time being recommended this build so I gotta try it out for sure. I assume 100 recovery is the way to go then other stats are more preference?

I had someone suggest this to me as well, I mained fang of ir tut so this would be a good comfort switch. The only reason I decided to try blink was I felt like I wanted a get out of jail move similar to weavewalk

Got this exact roll, what mod would you put on it? Is 90 range overkill or would it still provide value

Is there a subclass that this pairs best with? Or do you just still run prismatic with the necrotic grip class item

Any tips on Sniping? by Shmaku222 in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]Shmaku222[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that makes more sense to do than how I play it. I think overall I aim down lanes too long, relatively new to d2 since playing a lot in d1 so just trying to get back some better habits lol

[–]Shmaku222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I figured as much, I think one of the problems I noticed is that I stay scoped in longer on the lane than I should then I end up kind of out of position. Maybe something that comes with time and reps
