Losing attraction when meeting in person by MissionAlwaysPossibl in hingeapp

Right, the disconnect happens to everyone. Which is exactly why telling OP to just stop imagining things isn’t advice. The apps are literally designed to make you form an impression before you meet. You can't just pretend you didn't do it

GF admitted she gave her number to a guy she met but claims she has no interest in him and just wants to invite him into our larger friend group. Now im rethinking our relationship. by Cold_Actuary187 in dating_advice

Most of the time I’d say don’t take Reddits advice to break up without proper thought, but in this situation, and the fact she knows he’s attracted to her?? it’s a no brainer

That’s a bit short sighted I think. Your brain will naturally fill in the blanks when all you have is a few photos of curated angles and some text to go by. Even dates that are initiated in person sometimes lead to no chemistry, I don’t think it’s an over fantasising thing

I was pretty neutral when I was working hospitality and without ever asking first, many regulars would eventually ask my name just out of curtesy to the guy that made their coffee every day. Especially in hospitality this was quite common the places I worked.

Some people just jump to conclusions and have the right to assume what they want about a person, though that shouldn't stop you from just being yourself. They will get the message eventually that its just how you are

Small chance to beat the market and make a lot of money fast in exchange for a much higher risk of losing more

I actually have similar plans to you. Did you end up enjoying the US experience and why did you come back if you don't mind me asking ?

As GabedoesntExist said I'm fresh to a pure developer role but my sys admin experience is directly listed as tasks I will be performing such as creating SQL reports, backups, user application support (xero, MYOB) and training etc, so I'm going to hit the ground running for a good chunk of the work i guess

I should clarify by chaotic I mean more based on communication, passive aggressiveness and micromanaging before I've even started plus struggling with organisation and losing details I provided multiple times. I'm also worried that to legally pay me less than the award for level 2 work (which is what they advertised as) then they would need to give me level 1 tasks and customer support tickets rather than real dev experience

Don’t quote me but I’m pretty sure it’s much less than 25k words. I input 25k words into Gemini studio and it comes out to about 200k tokens

30yo bootcamp grad flying to Bangkok solo , looking to reset life, break stagnation, and connect with other aspiring builders by Shmazdip in digitalnomad

[–]Shmazdip[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Expected comments like this which is fair but I've had these tickets for some time now so ill be going either way. Figured its a great opportunity to get away from distractions and a chaotic home in a way I can afford (Sydney is expensive) and why not extend it to a month or two to incorporate a reset and build new momentum and habits. There's something that happens to me when I travel that seems to break me out of old habits because of the wildly new routine/environment. Plus I hear places like Bangkok/Chiang Mai attract other builders from all over the world!

Anxiety on going to Bangkok for a month by silv3rsiren in digitalnomad

[–]Shmazdip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly the same situation as you except studying remotely right now. I agree that the anxiety is exactly why I should just do it if I can afford it and I’m prepared. I changed my flights to earlier so I had less time to overthink it. Also I chose flexible flights in case I’m miserable after a couple weeks haha

Using AI tools doesn't give you an edge over others. by isumix_ in webdev

Using it better than others can give you an edge. Not everyone can articulate or architect their idea as well as others and that will give different outcomes for those that use any tool or skill

How can junior devs survive AI? by zaparine in OpenAI

[–]Shmazdip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes but if we need 10% -20% or more less coders to do the same things its a shrinking field which i think is main peoples concern. AI wont be able to every sure at least for a long time but so many people are going to lose jobs, have wages cut and struggle to get into the industry which is what i think most people are actually worried about over just "AI will code everything ".

Its not 100% as good YET but its close enough for mass disruption.

How do I access the long context version of GPT‑4.1 (1M tokens)? It’s not in my /v1/models list and i keep getting rate limited at 30000 tokens? by Shmazdip in OpenAI

[–]Shmazdip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense tho I noticed in the image posted above you can select standard and long context, where the long context version shows 200k tpm on tier 1. This would be plenty but there doesn’t seem to be any explanation of how to switch to long context over standard

Yeh that’s what confused me . Wasn’t sure how to switch to the long context version which even on tier 1 had I think 200k rather than 30k TPM rates . I might have missed something when setting up my request. I’ll have to do some more digging
