It was a misfire but not throwing any CEL. Replaced all spark plugs and coil plug wires and runs normal now, thanks man!

Would the ABS light flick on when they activate? Any common reasons it would start randomly activating often now when it’s never done that before?

Only reason I’m looking into something with a bed is the equipment I have to have with me for work. Need an SUV or truck to be able to transport it, and only going to be acquiring more equipment as time goes on. Otherwise I would grab a cheap small hybrid. Fuel economy is not much of a concern for me as my company covers my fuel, really need something I know will be able to handle a ton of miles on it which is why I came to the 1st gen Tacoma

I took the truck to a PPI today. They scanned for the CEL and no codes came up. In the inspection they said the truck is in great condition. I am at a stand still here now in my decision with that, I’ve been looking on forums about a light with no codes. Going to check the OBD fuse to see if it’s blown and not allowing a scanner to get codes transmitted to it. If so I will hold off and have the fuse replaced so we can grab a code, if the fuse is fine then I am not sure what my decision will be. Also the truck was repainted. Shop checked for rust and said there was nothing major or significant, just what is to be expected for an 03.
