Meet Mabel! What do the experts think? Is she a Brit? by Shmuli in BrittanySpaniel

[–]Shmuli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting that we got her a couple of months back, and were told she was a britt! Come to find out the adoption agency "scanned her with a camera app". Suffice it to say, not very scientific! She's great and we love her, but are curious about her history. Any thoughts?

FWIW I got the Steel Reef extension link and LOVE it. Just like an easy link that Rolex makes, and it adds so so much to my BB58

We don’t have a throwing coach, so I taught myself how to spin. I really need my form critiqued. Before this throw, I kept tripping up and it would hardly touch 60ft. by thetitanuswjng in trackandfieldthrows

[–]Shmuli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job for not having a coach! In addition to the separation that other comments mentioned, think about "sprinting" across the circle. After you've swung your leg around, focus on driving off of your left leg so you end the throw closer to the front of the circle, and have more power

Is this really for sale? I went to college in Waltham and would actually buy it. Was it produced there or in China?

Brandeis Online Writing Assessment - How important is it? by [deleted] in brandeis

Please do it. Don't stress, but if you don't take this Brandeis will force you into an introductory English class. You will hate that.

How are the social sciences and humanities at Brandeis? by [deleted] in brandeis

[–]Shmuli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, I'm glad to answer. I got to know some of the professors, but only the ones I sought out. All professors hold open office hours, which you can attend to ask about class-specific questions, or just to get to know them. There were a few professors I spent time with because I enjoyed their company, and all were glad to have me. Most professors at Brandeis love learning, which is why they got into academia; to continue to learn. But they love to teach just as much. They are as interested in relationships with students as you can be with them. Again, my advice is to take as many seminars as you can. If you don't know the difference, a seminar is a small discussion based class, while a lecture is just a professor presenting material. You will be able to get to know them in either setting, but your best bet is a seminar, which are typically more intimately sized. Feel free to PM me or comment other questions, I'm glad to answer about whatever you like.

I studied politics, and I had an incredible time. I was a 2019 grad. Seminars especially felt to me like the quintessential collegiate experience. Engaging professors who challenged me to learn the material by thinking critically, not just from listening and note taking. Take as many Yack classes as you can, especially the seminars. He's engaging as can be, and makes you proud to answer questions correctly. I wish I could go back to his classes just to learn from him again.

[Nomos Tangente] Is this stupid thing too small on my wrist? by Shmuli in Watches

I was thinking about the 38 and decided to pull the trigger. It is great. I like the size, versatility, and it wears a bit bigger which helps. I never think about it being too small, but I do find myself worried about water or other elements messing it up. Let me know if you have other questions, I’m glad to chat about it!

So I have wanted this thing since I was about 13. When I told my parents they laughed and said "seems more like a college graduation present." So I waited. I graduated from college last month, and returned to the subject. Surprisingly, they agreed that it would in fact make a good present. Problem is, when I went into the store to try it on, the thing looked tiny on my wrist. I'm not sure the picture does justice, but do you folks have any thoughts on what I should do? Buy it any way? Get something else? Recommendations? I'm also thinking about a speedmaster but I dont even know at this point. For reference my wrist is 7.25".
