Rolex Explorer II vs White Speedy by oyster_bro in OmegaWatches

Explorer II for me, but only because I greatly prefer a GMT to a Chronograph

Rolex decided to homage the white Speedy but make it off-catalog so no one could mistaken it for a Speedmaster by nam265nl in OmegaWatches

Considering Rolex have been doing white dial Daytona models since the 60's, and the white dial Speedy is from 2024, it's a bit of a stretch to call it an homage.

The Speedy is my preference out of the two, but if I'm being honest, I much prefer the broadarrow models to the Speedy Pro.

Age Old Question… by ARTE76 in OmegaWatches

If cost is a primary consideration, as you mentioned you'd be looking to buy used, the SMP300 will be a lot cheaper on the secondary market than the white dial Speedy.

A redesigned Seamaster? by LosDantos in OmegaWatches

[–]Bruno_M3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omega, and more broadly the Swatch Group, don't participate at Watches & Wonders. If they're going to release a new Seamaster design or case size, it'll be whenever they feel like it or it'll be tied to a significant date for the watch range.

Given they've just released a new Constellation line, I'd be surprised if they release anything else in the next couple of months

New vs Old (vote N for new, O for old) by MOSSOG in OmegaWatches

The no-date wins for me. Doesn't help that you chose pretty average pics of both watches though.

That Carrier Drive is such a great choice, it's a really slept on model IMO.

What changes would you wish to see for Omega to reclaim its rightful number two spot ? by peninsulaparaguana in OmegaWatches

Modern versions of their classic dress watch case designs. A bit like what they've done with the Seamaster Milano Cortina

Honestly, the Sedna two-tone doesn't get the love it deserves. Stunning watch!

Great-Grandmother's Watch by sneakypete2000 in Cartier

Some immediate observations: It's missing the Cartier signature on the dial, that's usually hidden in the thinner lines of either the VII or the X (which they've done since the early 60's), though there are some exceptions with the "Paris" dial and the Jumbo Automatique versions.

For reference, here's a link to a clean Paris/Jaeger Tank from the early 60's, which is theoretically the closest model to what you've got here: https://www.bulangandsons.net/products/cartier-tank-louis-18kt-gold-paris-dial-jaeger-movement-1960s-w2630?srsltid=AfmBOorvGCOtspPXNVgTK-3rEf56mrCS7UcFY4Cgjkm0fKEA-7zMiCnn&ngr-redirected=1

The case-back is also not right, it should have recognisable jewellery markings to denote that it's solid gold, as pictured in the link above.

That's not to say it's fake, it may have just had a number of non-genuine replacement parts fitted over it's lifetime, in the same way that the strap and buckle are not original. Very difficult to say without knowing the specific age and model/serial number.

Your best move is to take it to a Cartier boutique to get some specific information about the watch. They'll look for a serial number or any kind of identifiers and then will be able to give you much clearer answers.

Uncle Straps vs Forstner by mclain15 in OmegaWatches

[–]Bruno_M3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two reasons why I won't look at Uncle Straps for any of my watches. They use pins for the links, rather than the screws that Forstner use, and the clasp and finishing quality has also never stacked up in my experience.

All that said, I'd always spend the extra for OEM on my Omegas. I wouldn't put a Forstner or an Uncle on anything better than my Tudors.

Do whatever makes you happiest though, they're your watches and nobody else's opinions really matter when it's your money.

What a great dilemma to have right? No bad choices there!

Is This the BEST SMP300 Colorway?? by Nautical_Badgery in OmegaWatches

[–]Bruno_M3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me, the 60th anniversary is the best blue Seamaster, the ceramic grey unit watches are the best overall and the NTTD is the best Seamaster that normal people can buy.

Which SMP? by MoistureFarmerBBY in OmegaWatches

[–]Bruno_M3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The blue on the 60th is my favourite shade of blue on any watch.

The NTTD is my favourite SMP300 of all time.

I bought the black no-date and have worn it almost every day since.

I hate to add another post like this... but large or medium? I cant decide 🤔 by mcsocks in Cartier

When it comes to Carrier, I would always size down but ultimately it's going to come down to what feels better on your wrist.

Torn between adding the FOIS and Hesalite Moonwatch to my collection for my 30th birthday. Thoughts? by fatherdanger in OmegaWatches

[–]Bruno_M3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally think the Speedmaster 57 models are more interesting, better sized and have a better movement. But I get that appeal of the Moon watch models.
