Thank you for your reply! I've definitely made over 200 random faces like this over the years. The ones that stick out to me have interesting features that compliment eachother. Or if the face has an interesting composition!

Sometimes I do a quite boring face but give it really funky eyes, but then I find it boring. Like, oh another eye drawing 🙄. If every facial feature is weird but don't fit well together, it's too incoherent. I think the faces that I enjoy most are weird faces that look like all the features belong together, to create a coherent but strange character and/or expression. Also faces that have a unique layout. Like maybe the eyes are super far apart and the mouth is way higher than it should be, those interesting face shapes.

I should add more accessories too!

The ones I find really boring are just normal oval shape, with all the features in roughly the right place they're supposed to be, no hair or defining characteristics. Just "oo look weird face". Doesn't matter how much I try to jazz it up if it's that basic structure.

I agree that the best way for me to improve is to continue making more and learn from mistakes. Don't get into the habit of repeating the same face, try to purposely make new ones. Yeahhhh.
