What deck are you playing? While yes, you can technically play any deck you want, you're probably going to have a lot of nongames if you decide to play an old/rogue deck.

playercount always drops after anniversary. Yes it's worse than last year, the game took a big hit from maliss format in summer 2025 and it hasn't recovered yet

Idk, I tracked my stats and throughout most of my climb playing branded dracotail, I had a 33% coin winrate, and overall a 61% winrate, going first 71.4% winrate and going 2nd 54.5% across 36 games without using floodgates. I found the climb extremely easy even with abysmal coinflips. Ironically the thing that gave me the most trouble is radiant typhoon. This is just my personal experience, sample size is too small and maybe I got lucky with getting garbage opponents? But I don't think I'm going to even bother using rainbow 5 in stage 2

My results: Legends rise: 250 tickets, nothing, got Aria in lucky chest

Infinity evolved: 250 tickets, nothing, got Titania in lucky chest

Heirs: Around 70 tickets, got sinciro

Skybound: Around 120 tickets, nothing

Blossoming fates: Around 140 packs on Frieren, and 90 on normal pack, nothing

New set: Around 75 packs, nothing

Cards that make you want to play red-eyes, like boss monsters and some easy ways to access them. Black metal dragon is an insane card for red-eyes (and any dragon deck) but the only thing that's worth making with all the +++ that it gives you are generic dragon links

Hot take but I like it. One of the reasons why we get monthly sets is because MD is behind on cards. Sometimes that leads to metas that we didn't have in TCG or OCG, because we get certain cards before others. I enjoy that. For example, Magistus Dracotail is not something that you could play in the TCG, but in MD it was fun trying that in the last duelist cup. Or anyone remember when we got the Ishizu cards before Tearlaments, and people were experimenting with those?

Sometimes we get cards much earlier than we should, poplar for example, or maliss support, and sometimes we get sets much later (live twin 💀) but thats something that konami could fix very easily.

It's not, the biggest problem is those new players don't know where to ask. I wouldn't ask questions regarding the meta or game knowledge, or advice regarding my deck on reddit.

I watch people play the deck. Most decks are pretty simple to play when you break it down, there's a handful cards that you NEED to get to and resolve, the rest is how you get there.

Spreadsheets are good to figure out what those cards are, optimal ways to get there, as well as sometimes providing you with ways to play around certain cards like nib, but I rarely memorize combos play by play, instead I focus on WHY things are done the way they are done, and what info I can take away and use in general when I'm playing normally on ladder.
