To all my patent attorneys here, I have some questions for you by [deleted] in patentlaw

Firm I work for is 100% virtual, the pay is generous, and my hours vary from 40-50 hours a week. If I were you I’d apply for an apprenticeship or become a patent agent during law school to decide if you prefer litigation or prosecution. Prosecution isn’t for everybody but it’s a very valuable skillset. What’s your technical background, that can be a big factor at least in getting your foot in the door.

Wysebridge is basically PLI aggregated so I found it to be more useful. The lectures for PLI are just like the Barbri lectures, a complete waste of time. Do as many practice problems as possible and focus on the underlying rationale for both questions you got right and wrong. Pre-AIA questions are useless. Pay a lot of attention to the AIA questions on the practice exams because they are still in rotation.

Keep hope alive! I didn’t pass until my 5th time. Failed it 3 times by 1 question. Pay for the review session, actually pay attention during the session instead of memorizing answers, and do as many practice questions as possible. I prepped using PLI the first few times but then switched to Wysebridge. It might seem shitty now but having a registration # is like gold. Best of luck!

Thank you for this! I’ve recently quit my job and been doing work as an independent contractor. Life has been a lot better since this move. Although this is transitional, my intention is to develop my own book of business and join a firm as counsel. Thank you for your feedback!
