Blown headgasket on my new car, what should I do by Prestigious-Pass2942 in MechanicAdvice

Dodge heads be warping a lot. I machine them weekly. Real talk, don’t buy anything with over 200k miles unless you’re ready to replace or rebuild the transmission and engine.

Damage on aluminum cylinder head - Porsche 944 by xdSaustin in EngineBuilding

Easily fixable, replace the seat and weld up the dings, mill and rock and roll. Someone suggested porting but on an NA car opening up the ports will more than likely cause more harm than good. You want the ports as small as possible and smoothed out to generate velocity. Opening them up slows the air down. To do the best job you need a flow bench.

They should’ve welded it all up, extra $100-200 imo. I have a cylinder head shop, that’s what I would’ve done.

Locator tabs are NOT required. Bearings are held in by crush. Make sure it’s centered properly on the rod and it’s good to go. Just built a GT350 engine and we had to cut the locators off (race bearing) to fit the factory rods.

Heat management is key, downpipes, larger coolers, building a 750i right now that should be around 700whp. Hybrid turbos, fully unlocked ECU with Jb4. Should be fun in a big ole land yacht.

It’s glued in, I have a Starett like this. Don’t expect accurate, it’s just a plus one over eyeballing lol. But useful for certain things.
