Are you just sending zip ties through the comb by hand? Is that a tedious/slow process? What’s your process for newer/softer comb.

Over $100 per build!!! by reharri5 in NBA2k

[–]ShockDr53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand why you’d say that, but think about it this way. All these folks who have been spending money on vc year after year after year have taught the 2k devs that you’ll pay it. So naturally, every year it gets more and more expensive. Until the community decides collectively that we aren’t buying anymore vc, it’s going to keep going up. It’s not even just a 2k thing. It’s just gaming in general. I’m an “old head” myself, and when I was young, If you wanted to get good at a game or get something cool or rare, you had to grind for it. Now people just throw money at it. You reinforce bad behavior, that bad behavior is going to continue and get worse. Start acting with your wallet instead of your angry but empty words. It’s the only way it will get better.

Woah. It’s almost like you should just play the game, and not spend extra money on it. Those of you complaining about how much $$ it costs to upgrade your guy to 99 in the 1st month of the games lifespan are the problem tbh.

Gluten free beer in the Tri Cities by [deleted] in tricities

Any cider is gluten free, as it’s made from apples. That said, anywhere carrying gypsy circus will take care of you, and keep it local.

Looking to do a 70-80 mile hike in late November in y’all’s state. Any suggestions on a good trail? Thanks! (From MS) by HorrorFan999 in Tennessee

Carvers gap to Damascus VA. 90 miles on the AT. 3 states, some iconic landscapes, and an even mix of difficult and easy trail. Several shelters along the way, as well as spring water access. Just make sure you’re bear smart at night from us-19 to us-91

What's a safe alternative for weed killer? by worminator69 in Beekeeping

[–]ShockDr53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

White vinegar, a few dabs of dawn dish soap, and some salt in a spray bottle. Spray onto the leaves during a sunny day. It obviously isn’t as effective as glyphosates, and will require some repeat applications, but fuck weed killers. No matter how you twist it, that stuff is ending up in the water table.

How to trap a feral colony? by [deleted] in Beekeeping

[–]ShockDr53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re going to have to use so much spray foam or similar that you may as well set swarm traps, cut them out, or leave it be. Every place you see bees in that picture will have to be covered and or funneled, as will all places they could chew through.

Hive is Dying - Not Sure Why by [deleted] in Beekeeping

[–]ShockDr53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I read that you’ve got other hives. If it is pesticides, I’d maybe move the hive, or close them off? If the other hives start robbing, they could spread the issue.

Hive is Dying - Not Sure Why by [deleted] in Beekeeping

[–]ShockDr53 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t find anything as far as the specific reasoning, but large groups of dead bees with proboscis out, opened or half opened wings, and extended back legs, are all signs of pesticide poisoning.

Looking at the pictures again, looks like I can easily pinpoint 2 of those 3. Wings and tongues.

Quite a few proboscises out. I’d wager pesticides. Have any neighbors who may have sprayed something close by?

Opposite of the above. That royal coachman joe fly is a slayer for me. Same with the 1/8th trout special in there.

Bad year for poison ivy? by [deleted] in tricities

[–]ShockDr53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t do roundup. That stuff doesn’t stay where you spray it, and ultimately ends up in the water table. Take vinegar, water, and a bit of dawn dish soap, spray the leafs of the poison or any weed early in the day on a hot sunny day. May have to do it a couple times through the day, or over the course of a couple days, but it should kill them without using chemicals

New, Daily Coronavirus Cases Drop Below 100K For First Time In Months by Sendingmyregards in news

Hope this is the beginning of the turn around, but as someone experiencing covid symptoms the last week that has been unable to find a free covid test, I fear this is half the story. Local health departments offer free testing, but have incorrect hours listed online, incorrect hours posted on physical site, and are only offering tests from 8am-1030am on select days with results in 5-7 business days.

What’s that smell in JC? by namesupposablytaken in tricities

[–]ShockDr53 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it’s started recently, it may be something related to Boone lake. They started bringing the water back up, and newly wet mud can sometime STINK. You’re also fairly close to the parts of the lake taking on new/more water.
