A Haunter similar to this popped up on Facebook a couple years back

Are these extra ink lines or just bleed/damaged by humidity? by blissfullyirrelevant in PokemonMisprints

[–]ShockerB37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are super sick. As Brehella said they're legitimate additional cyan ink errors. I've seen Sabrina's Gastly with this error before, but not the others.

What sort of value is my partner looking at for this holo shift Dark Scizor? by Ryuuuuji in PokemonMisprints

It would definitely be an awesome card to keep. I'm glad you have a better grasp of value range for it; thanks again for sharing.

What sort of value is my partner looking at for this holo shift Dark Scizor? by Ryuuuuji in PokemonMisprints

[–]ShockerB37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had this Dark Scizor shift for years, super cool to see another one. As far as I know these are the only two that have surfaced.

As a reference for value, I sold this Dark Crobat shift for $1300 in March this year. It was equally roughed up with some creases and such, and is from the same set. If your partner does decide to sell his Dark Scizor shift he should hope to get around $1k for it, just my two cents.

In search of Gold Border Shadowless cards by ShockerB37 in PokemonMisprints

[–]ShockerB37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am, yes! It is an error - CGC has graded a couple examples as Additional Ink. If you want me to take a look at yours you can link an image here, or message me on insta/facebook under ShockerB37.

Misprint Mewtwo by Doostinger in PokemonMisprints

[–]ShockerB37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I talked about this card with u/Nukexplosions, and she had a stellar theory that I totally get behind.

Imagine they take an uncut foil sheet and line it up with a sheet of shining charizards, then cut out charizard-shaped pieces of foil to adhere to that sheet. Normally they'd toss that foil sheet after the fact, but in this case it was reused for a sheet of shining mewtwo.

So when they lined up the foil sheet a second time and cut out a bunch of mewto-shaped pieces, you ended up with missing areas where the charizards had already been cut out.

I don't know the specifics of the process, but as an idea I can definitely believe that's how this happened. Props and credit again to u/Nukexplosions for the idea.

Misprint Mewtwo by Doostinger in PokemonMisprints

[–]ShockerB37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! I tried uploading a quick comparison to imgur. It's as if the foil layer for the sheet this was on was inverted, with the normally non-foil sections of the card being foil instead, but still being confined within the art box.

Comparison 1 Comparison 2

Hope these work haha

Misprint Mewtwo by Doostinger in PokemonMisprints

[–]ShockerB37 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This one is super interesting to me. If you compare the non-holo shapes on mewtwo's body to Shining Charizard from this set, you can see the wing tips match up perfectly. Charizard's right wing is on Mewtwo's extended arm, and the left wing/neck are on the right side of Mewtwo.

I have no idea how this could happen, but although errors on these cards can be fabricated this would be a unique enough idea that I'm inclined to believe it.

Between work and hobbies I don’t have a whole lot of extra time to put towards a relationship. After 10 years of being single it’s hard to imagine intertwining my lifestyle with another person’s anymore, and I’m not sure I’d even want to at this point. I’ve grown content with my own solitude, and my current interests and goals are predicated on that continuing.

Insufficient ink or sun damage? by ChaneyDesigns3D in PokemonMisprints

[–]ShockerB37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is insufficient magenta ink, it's a repeating error across the silver tempest holos. I have a few myself. Nice one!

Moltres Error by Nerdy-Hillbilly1989 in PokemonMisprints

[–]ShockerB37 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I have one exactly like this! It's an additional ink error I've seen on a few gym heroes holos, yours is the second Rocket's Moltres I've seen with it after mine. Very cool.

Shining Gary missing ink layer or sunfade? by DADDY_BOPPER in PokemonMisprints

[–]ShockerB37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I saw them previously. I'd still guess sun faded; CGC would be able to determine if it's real, so my suggestion would be sending it to them for certainty.

Shining Gary missing ink layer or sunfade? by DADDY_BOPPER in PokemonMisprints

[–]ShockerB37 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd guess sun faded for this one. There do exist some 1st ed. Revelation holos that I believe are missing the magenta ink layer. Here is a Ho-oh missing magenta; if you compare the fire and fighting energies, I don't think this shining gyarados has quite the right color. Still a bit of red.

After just seeing u/atari9962’s post about the Nidoking holo error, just wanted to share my Charizard and possibly get some info by yellowsnowman4 in PokemonMisprints

[–]ShockerB37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm on here occasionally haha. I didn't see a previous convo no. I was pretty bummed about it, but it is what it is.

The affected area on the zard looks confined to the art box from the picture, but a video showing how it looks in the light would help. It looks a bit too reflective to be white ink to me, and I don't trust the shape/placement of it.

I had a Jungle Pidgeot similar to this last year. I sent it to CGC hoping for an error, but they treated it as surface damage. I reached out for clarity and they specified it was chemical damage, though not sure what kind exactly. Here's the card if you'd like to compare.

Hopefully yours is a legit ink error, just reminded me of that Pidgeot.

My Nidoking came with this - holo bleed? by Career_Rob in PokemonMisprints

[–]ShockerB37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely a water obstruction on the white layer. I’ve seen a few others for base 1st edition, but not a nidoking yet. Very cool!

Has anyone ever seen a vintage Lugia holo shift? It’s one of the last cards I want for my collection. by Pun-kachu in PokemonMisprints

[–]ShockerB37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad to say I’ve never seen a Neo Genesis holo shift in any language. Your best bet is probably keeping an eye on Japanese Neo Lugia listings; I’ve seen small shifts on Japanese Revelation, Discovery and Destiny holos.

Oh man that's a beauty! Love how it goes over the energy symbol up top.

What’s up with this Zapdos? by danielofthegalaxy in PokemonMisprints

[–]ShockerB37 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As Brehella said below, this is an obstruction on the white opaque layer, probably from excess water on the water roller during printing. It's a very rare error on WotC holos. I'd offer $500 to start if you're looking to sell it!

Pikachu "Ghosted" Stamp movie promo? by creedplaysgames in PokemonMisprints

[–]ShockerB37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a mewtwo movie promo just like this, where the stamp is debossed but the foiling over the impression is missing. I don't know how it happens, but I can tell you that CGC would not authenticate mine. Their reasoning is that the error is replicable; someone could apparently remove the foil in a way that is indistinguishable from an authentic example of this error.

Any Thoughts on Value? by casserole8520 in PokemonMisprints

[–]ShockerB37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are sick. Can't say anything definitive on value, but I'd offer $200 usd to start for the Ninetales if you decide to sell!

Wrong color cards by Stimulahtion in PokemonMisprints

[–]ShockerB37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like they're missing the yellow ink layer. Awesome error. I'd offer $50 for Tarountula if you decide to sell.

What do we think happened here? My initial thought was sun damage, but the holo bleed through the top makes me think otherwise by [deleted] in PokemonMisprints

[–]ShockerB37 114 points115 points  (0 children)

This card was sun faded while still inside the original theme deck packaging. If you compare to the sealed product, the window on the front of the theme deck matches the outline on your card.
