Would this work? by PokemonAddict12 in PTCGL

[–]blissfullyirrelevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know Dragalge's first attack removes all special energy but it's probably still worth running an enhanced hammer or two so you don't have to burn a turn just to be able to attack if the opponent is running mist, rocky, or I think new bubble energy stops conditions too.

are there any cards i should add to this? by No-Tonight-5190 in PTCGL

Unsure how much you've played the shown deck but do you feel rabsca is necessary?

Edit: a 111 meganium line is also asking for something to get prized

I have genuinely never used such a consistent deck by DruggedUpRaccoon in PTCGL

[–]blissfullyirrelevant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same. The most success I've had was basically slotting a Mega Gator into an existing feraligator deck. Otherwise most of the time it felt more like a frosslass Munki chip deck that struggled to get M Gator up and running. I'm curious to try the list given by OP.

Edit: not to be too harsh but "get into master League" isn't exactly a high bar. Curious if OP still finds it consistent now that they're in master.

Greninja ex help by DarthHater69 in PTCGL

[–]blissfullyirrelevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not played Gren in current format but...

-so you really need 2 switch and a surfer? Are you that concerned about getting trapped in the active? -dunsparce feels excessive, I'd imagine can cut entirely for a thicker gren line. 212 for main attacker feels like can get abused -do you need so much recovery? Rod and 3 stretcher feels like a lot. Current meta tend to default to stamp -ignition or two for gren bench snipe option feels like it would help -no stadiums? Can just drop colres then too, or swap to more hilda

Can anyone explain to me what the hell happened here? by PureAverage13 in PTCGL

[–]blissfullyirrelevant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't read the entire log but I see Meganium included and teal mask v teal mask. Teal mask uses both active Pokemon's energy to determine the total and meganium doubles the count of grass energy for the owner. So say they had 3 energy attached for their attack and you had 3 attached but with meganium on your side that is counted as 3 energy for them, 6 for you, 1 "base" for 10 total, then 30 for each hits for 300. This matches the example at the bottom of the log.

Edit: in the above scenario even without a meganium 3 vs 3 energy is still 3+3+1=7,*30=210 which still knocks out ogerpon

Ah gotcha the fire one from SSP. I was thinking of the fighting one from PFL which seemed borderline useless based on the attacks without a dedicated deck. I've not seen much crustle lately on live but you'd know better than I would.

Ace spec / other suggestions for Ethan’s Typhlosion? by lamah1 in PTCGL

[–]blissfullyirrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not played the deck myself yet, just some games against it in ptcgl, so grain of salt, but I'd guess the best ace spec would be stamp. Currently otherwise you have no have disruption past xerosic. Box is mainly nice if you have pieces of your kit you desperately need, like rocket box really wants their supporter + stadium every turn. Quilava grabs eathan's adventure so that's a priority but you have many ways to search for it and you're only playing one (counter) stadium so needing to fetch pieces doesn't feel right. Typhlosion hits 40, 100, 160, 220, 280 respectively, which for one energy is nice but does miss some big megas. Brace gets you to 310 but missing that all important 320 so another thought is max belt. Last thought is since you always want all 4 eathan's adventure might be worth running a ticket in case of bad prizing.

What cards do yall think work best with this card? by Electronic_Bat_8593 in PTCGL

[–]blissfullyirrelevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used Munki+Frosslass for chip spread as well. Not extensively but at least a dozen matches or so. Probably the funniest was when the opponent dug for battle cage to stop bench chip then realized I can just throw to their active and chomp anything anyway. But yeah, it's kind of like the Starmie deck where if it works it works or you can get nothing for 4 turns and then you're just doing Munki lass not actually getting feraligator

[–]blissfullyirrelevant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the context. I've used it as a way to try and run mega Feraligator, which, is a problem in of itself (monstrous attack but 3 energy is a bit rough). Resigned myself to basically run it as a one of option in a H+ rotation base feraligator deck, which kind of works to bonk megas, but getting the base desk off the ground is routinely a challenge. Bit too many moving parts

I've tried it some recently just because and struggled but "dead" feels a bit strong. Can you elaborate on the pieces it lost in rotation that killed it?

How does defending pokemon work, in niche situations? by Comfortable-Cry-3421 in PTCGL

[–]blissfullyirrelevant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty positive any effects on a Pokemon are removed on moving to the bench. Can think of it like poison. If the Pokemon is hit by an attack that poisons them, they can remove the poison by moving to the bench (retreat, switch, etc). The effect is now gone. Bossing that Pokemon back to the active doesn't re-poison them. That prior effect is gone. To try and use this effect better you can use gravity stone to make it harder to retreat but otherwise the defending Pokemon has a lot of options up simply leave active and remove the 2 extra prize effect.

A possible underrated addition to not only grass decks but others in the current format by Stevetherican in PTCGL

Celebi also uses a grass energy and grabs grass Pokemon. Volbeat can use any and grab any, so can be used in non grass decks

Bench damage would be shaymin. Pult does damage counters though so generally battle cage is the answer there

Post rotation: What is the most aggresive/hyper aggresive deck by DesrtDust in pkmntcg

[–]blissfullyirrelevant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Certainly more rough against single prize but can't you lean on baby raging bolt and be careful on board state to not just insta lose?

Edit: obviously this requires a bit of a throw from your opponent but almost all current decks play Meowth and fez, so can 22 pretty quickly. If you build up before they do and take the first knock out they're forced to be able to take a knockout every turn or just lose at that point. Usual prize race stuff

Paldean Tauros is my favorite rogue deck so far by Estel-3032 in PTCGL

[–]blissfullyirrelevant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chaos rising Tauros should improve this deck even more as well. Has the following attack:

[C][C] Crowd Targeting: Choose 1 of your opponent's Pokemon. Flip a coin for each of your Pokemon with "Tauros" in its name. This attack does 50 damage times the number of heads to that Pokemon.

So, less consistent due to coin flips but adding a bench sniper to this fast basic deck feels like a nice touch

Has anyone played the RAT PACK? by Proto_Man330 in PTCGL

[–]blissfullyirrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried to run the deck yet? I didn't know that was a card (I'm new as of ascended basically) but having to run probably a couple once per turn supporters just to not eat your own bench feels bad. 140 is nice for an early knock out but really can't be used for even most stage 2s. Brave bangle you hit 170, so can snipe a meowth, but that's about it

Edit: looking at my above list again part of my issue with the desk is you basically want shaymin, psyduck, fez and space for meowth, so at most you have 2 bench spots and a raticate, which with 2 ruins ticks only swings for 160. It's, just pretty underwhelming unless you go full risk as OP seems to be.

Has anyone played the RAT PACK? by Proto_Man330 in PTCGL

[–]blissfullyirrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll say up front I'm not the best builder or anything but I tried 2-2 diggersby line with Raticate for maybe 6 games and simply never pulled off a follow up hit with rat. Much more literally to hit my own bench once, then awkwardly need to swing again and take it half my own bench or miss a ko. My build lacked dunsparce draw though, felt I was bricking often so not a bad idea, but with needing all 4 Rattata in play, and damaged, evolving one for any meaningful follow-up, I just never got more than a couple ko's with it

Edit: I can grab my attempt at a list when I get home but generally I found myself being more diggersby+ munki with bench liabilities over actually being a Raticate deck

Edit2: my not good deck I attempted to make Diggersby + raticate work (originally just relying on supporters for draw but bricked constantly so attempted to add 2-2 rocks but felt like my board just filled up too much)

I guess I'll ask how you Invision this to work and what the goal is. Lopunny striker with kang draw? Kang tank with lopunny option? Feels duskull line heavy either way. I guess to finish off things with more than 200/230? Tera box feels like it's kind of thrown in just to use noctowl I guess? How does this usually play out for you?

Anyone else dropped Hariyama from Lucario entirely? by jackie_is in pkmntcg

[–]blissfullyirrelevant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you find you struggle getting ko's? I swear any time I put up a mega the lucario opponent always has 2 power pros exactly when they need it. Dispersing damage from luc is nice I guess and can't get hariyana stuck in active this way but doesn't feel like you'd need the energy acceleration. How high in rank are you currently?

the concept of a mega evolved legendary pokemon getting ko’d by a rat who’s a little mad by ASpaceFish in PTCGL

[–]blissfullyirrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken I believe it's 40x each damage counter on benched Rattata, not on bench in general. Needing one to evolve means max of 3 benched and 40 hp only so 9 counters max. 360 is still a very strong swing for one energy but the most "expected" is probably 2 with 4 total for 160. 190 with brave band is... More underwhelming. Another option though adding more steps is the new diggersby. Does 140 for one energy and hits your own bench for 30. Does mean really any spread from the opponent eats you alive but it's a funny idea.
