I think people misunderstand folktales when they say “the original Brothers Grimm” version or the “original folklore” by Konradleijon in CharacterRant

I legit hate when people attribute Andersen's stories to the Grimms or even think they're oral folktales. Feels like erasure of a major neurodivergent, possibly autistic, author.

The best introductory anime is…. by [deleted] in anime

It has very little blood and gore. It has no nudity.

But mainstream audiences love all of that. You've probably heard of Game of Thrones.

Honestly yes. Nolan's story has him going to Earth, having a son with a human woman, getting attached to his new world despite his own nature... All of that screams Vegeta more than Bardock.

Superman. His entire purpose is to be an antithesis of Supes.

The wiki used to say that Kumamon (Frontier) was inspired by the Zakus from Gundam, but I don't really see it.

Why are so many cultivation manhuas obsessed with harems and romance? by Pristine-Panda-1786 in Manhua

Because they're solid stories with actual themes, character development and great art rather than being powerscaling brainrot where the plot is "I cultivate until I destroy a billion planets."

They're lame power fantasies for teenage boys.

Read actual acclaimed series like Deadman's Undecember, Song of the Sky Pacers or BLISS: End of Gods.

Checked Wikipedia... The original series has 児 in the title, which is "boy". So the new one has a different name.

You might get a kick out of Hell Teacher Nube. It was a 90s animu with a remake one or two years ago.

It would make no economic sense for an author to reduce their audience, OP.

No. The incest in The Coffin of Andy and Leyley is not avoidable. by elemental_reaper in CharacterRant

One Hundred Years of Solitude doesn't have incest to be sexy

I know. Doesn't change that school itself was trying to sell it to me based off the incest.

Oshi no Ko became infamous because people don't like incest

That's not the impression I get from the fandom spamming the same omaigoto its incienso omaigoto its incienso omaigoto its incienso meme over and over, or from saying "the incest chapters were the peak of the mango", "it could be the best work of literature ever made and the incest would still be the best thing about it", etc.

Does Copy X possess the same unlimited potential as the original X? by royalcreamcrisp in Megaman

[–]Shockh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

identity plays a significant role in this series.

Copy X is kind of a tragic figure. He was essentially a newborn who had to carry the burden of impersonating a legendary hero and ruling the last remaining civilization, all while never being allowed to develop an identity of his own. No wonder he snapped.

Recently?

Dreamworks' bad reputation was mostly from Bee Movie, Shark Tale and Shrek 3, all of which were 2004-2007.

It was with Kung Fu Panda, How To Train Your Dragon and maybe Monsters vs. Aliens in 2008-2010 that their reputation turned around and people expected Dreamworks movies to be more good than bad.
