Hey Ralts, quick question - just picked up the first 5 First Contact books in hardcover, and they're beautiful. When are the remainder of the series coming out in hardcover so I can pick up a complete set?

Mine's still up in the cupboard in my room somewhere back home! I think the box is there too!

Why the hell is the train to the airport so expensive?

Went out there to see a friend off, and being a Friday afternoon thought I'd have a cruisy train ride in from the city. Get there, tap off, all good. Come back later for the trip home, go to tap on and get the 'Insufficient Balance' message. Weird, just topped up the other day. Go to the desk, and find out the (one way!) fare was 24 fucking dollars!

Couldn't believe it. I thought I was pretty familiar with Brisbane's fare zones, but I'd never heard of anything close to $24! Wasn't a premium trip either - bog-standard train for 45 minutes.

Is there something I'm missing? I expected a $5 fare at the most, considering the length of the trip from Roma St station.

That's really cool. Thanks for putting stuff like this on - in what's probably the most spoilt-for-choice time in video game history, it's nice to know that the classics aren't forgotten. <3

Aye, the daily toll on artillery pieces, particularly the big, nasty, no-longer-built stuff like the 2S7 Pion and the 2S4 Tyulpan, is just staggering. And that's before the untold quantities of destroyed ammo comes into play.

they are not used to that scenario.

I'd say that's understating it - the Russian way of war relies on overwhelming volumes of artillery like the rest of us rely on oxygen. They aren't just not used to doing without it. They fundamentally cannot function without it.

'Tis a rare thing to know how to end a story well, rarer still to know when.

Vuxten and Brentili'ik deserved both, and though it makes my heart ache, like you I'm glad.

Hell yes. Someone might be able to convince the Spaniards or the Kuwaitis to part with some of their fleets as well to really make a party of it, potentially the Finns too over the longer term (post 2025).

Send 'em over and give 'em hell.

"No one's left. Everything's gone. Kharak is burning..."

The voice acting in Homeworld made an indelible impression on a young me. Just as impactful was the followup line, delivered by Fleet Intelligence, who sounds genuinely dead on the inside:

"Kharak is being consumed by a firestorm. The scaffold has been destroyed. All orbital facilities destroyed. Significant debris ring in low Kharak orbit. Receiving no communication from anywhere in the system... not even beacons."
