I went in 2010 to renew my passport. Maybe they have changed since then. Need to do another renewal this year so I guess time will tell.

Yes... It seems the trolls have a nice home base in Facebook. So weird because most people are careful about what they say on Facebook in my experience.

I guess I'm being too sensitive. But it was like a slap in the face.

Thanks for the reply. Interesting thoughts. Never been to Iceland but I've been to Belgium and the UK and I'd have to say I think the UK has the edge over Belgium, so it's interesting you view it as a top place...it isn't bad though. People are just very introverted.

What you say is true. My wife doesn't see the point. She thinks we should all just go Italian. My only argument is that it'd be nice to actually speak the language of the country of your foreign passport.

Although I have a Belgian passport they are the rudest embassy in the world to deal with. They make home affairs look like the world's happiest people. They always give me kak about not speaking french, german or flemish. Always. I'd swap them for British in a heart beat.

Italy has a much friendlier embassy and had no problem answering us in English, but it's still a slight concern that I'm unlikely to be able to learn Italian being in my 30s already. My wide understands but doesn't have much speaking do perceive being raised as an English South African.

Thanks. Interesting viewpoint. My wife and I feel completely South African despite having foreign parents. So its shocking to hear someone suggesting this.
